Take it is the TRD package? Heard something that you can keep the rear diff locked and the active traction control then works on the front set of wheels. Non- TRD FJs I think with active control on defeats the lock rear diff, or the other way around. Again, nice set of traction options to suit terr...

Yeah, my Dad's sidekick has that. Even though its automatic it has a little shifter to operate the 4WD, with positions for 2WH, 4WH, N, and 4WL. Personally I'd rather have part-time real 4WD on that Toyota. Full-time AWD actually isn't true 4WD, where all 4 wheels spin at the same rate. There's alw...

Did you have winter tires on the G35? I can't imagine giving up a car like that. I think I'd probably just move to a warmer climate. :D Or trade in the RWD g35 for the AWD :) Too bad AWD G35's are all A/T's, and I have always wanted a Toyota rig since I was a kid. I grew up watching the Discovery a...

Re: Boston, MA area driving schools w/ manual trans. lessons

I want to learn to drive a stick shift and am looking for driving schools in the Boston, MA area that offer lessons with cars equipped with a manual transmission. I tried calling two dozen schools but none (!) had cars outfitted with manual transmissions. Does anybody know of schools in that area t...

^^That is awesome. I saw that they offered that thing with a 6-speed manual and that it sounded cool. Only the manual has "full time 4WD," right? Yeah, it is a full time 4wd, A/T models have a part time 4wd. Gas milage is bad though, I only managed to get 18 mpg at most with premium gas, ...

Re: Upshifting from 1st to 2nd

Usually I upshift to 2nd at 2500 to 3000 rpm. One problem I have noticed is that the stick requires some effort going into 2nd gear than most of the other gears. Why is this? My car used to crunch nearly every time I upshifted 1st to 2nd. I tried doing it slow without results. What did help was act...

Learned on a new Mt car. What damage have I done to car?

Hi I am new to this forum. I hope you guys can answer some of my questions. I have been learning how to drive a manual on a brand new g35 6mt for 2 months. I stalled the car many times(at least 100 times) in the first month. And I believe, I burnt the clutch 2-3 times. Right now i am driving much be...
