160+ prolonged in a Goat without overheating your tranny??? I would still feel safer with a tranny cooler and a good tranny fluid for the Autobahn. In theory my own car will top out at 176 in the top of 5th, but I would be running around at a fairly high rpm... I am a bit skeptical about your freig...

Yep. The GTO auto is geared to match the manual on the 1320 given a good stick shifter, but once you hit about 120-130mph the 6 speed will freight train its ass past it. Plus with the 6 speed I can do 160+ mph all day and not worry about my transmission overheating :P I drag race simply because I fe...

I always liked the styling of the BMW, but I think the allure of the beamer is the fact that you have to have some money to join the club. MB hurt themselves with their entry level strippers, so we'll see how bmw fares.

Well he does low 13's now, he was talking about his first time at the track. Another GTO guy's first run was 28 seconds (:O!). He needs a new clutch though, especially since he cammed it. Given the price of the car plus the IRS it's easy to find folks who haven't really had experience drag racing wi...

I have to agree with Prodigal Son here. If you have read the news you know Austin TX is getting lots of rain over the past few weeks, and last night was a torrential sideways downpour. I was on the freeway and numerous spots had in my estimation 3/4 - 1" of water and I had my hazards on at one ...

It's an LS2 V8. A few friends with GTO's have already done the header conversion and their dyno results generally went from 346 stock to 370. A tune will help tap into that.

My tires are good for rain but 245 all seasons mated to 400 ft lbs means if i pound it in 1st it will take me a bit of time. But being sideways is fun :)

First time at San Antonio Raceway

Had a great time with a bud of mine with a GTO last friday. Cut a relatively awful 14.8 second time, but felt better when he said his first time out he couldn't get out of the 15s with his 420hp GTO (mine is stock). First run was the best at 14.8, left traction control on and just released the clutc...

Everything causes wear, get used to it. Even if your car spent it's lifetime in a garage oxidation and breakdown of the compounds will take affect. I take the side of safety and staying in gear gives you more options than coasting. Turning off your engine on a public road gives me the creeps, your n...

I'll take TC off if the weather is dry in my GTO because i'd rather let the tires take a bit of pain if i become aggressive rather than pulling timing while im working the clutch. The GTO is very comfortable in a skid.

I put down every day because I dont drive the GTO (M6) every day, and the Sebring is auto.

I wish it was a standard but its all good, I wouldn't trade it in before its time just based on transmission choice.

yea in college during my reckless years I raced a bud of mine back and forth from school against his 2002 Dodge Stratus w/ 150 horses

Always blew by him. Another guys 2002 Grand Prix GT with 200 horses was pretty even, he'd edge out near 100 though, not a bad pace for 70 less ponies.

I have to agree with six. Finding it boring is perfectly fine, I do as well. But any race involving close quarters and lots of cars is going to be nerve wracking. And I do believe skills are involved because of what six also mentioned.
