Re: DSG a threat to the future of the manual transmission?
Interesting manual transmission talk is being shot down in favor of off topic stuff, times sure have changed since I stopped being a regular here. I choose a manual because a) It has less reliability issues than DSGs and other tech gizmos b) Its cheaper! c) Its more fun! d) Because, let's face it, w...

Once upon a time, Magnus got a job.... Magnus was really happy with the money he had. Magnus thought why not buy a nice car. Magnus went to all the places in town and selected a rare brand new blue Subaru Legacy 2.0 Turbo petrol 5spd manual. 180 horses.... Magnus was really happy, got $1000 V-Kool t...

Re: have you guys had those moments .... (stalling bloopers)

Re: Just drove my manual this monday in a pretty bad rush hour
I've found that whenever I drive in stop and go traffic I enjoy DRIVING my car rather than just sitting there letting go of the brake pedal to various degrees... But the problem is that most Japanese cars have tiny clutches that make themselves felt even through thick soled shoes. After about an hou...

I don't get what all the hubris around the iPhone is about... Yeah it's got a flashy screen and the usual Apple "I'm so cool flashy and bubbly that I look really usable even though I'm not" interface (Yeah I know I'm gonna have a lotta flak for saying that) but it's features aren't THAT gr...

Re: More noob questions
man, it's bad today. It seems the more I wanna shift it as soft and smooth as possible, the more jerking I get. This happens to me sometimes too. The thing is, by trying to be smooth you inadvertently end up shifting slower, thus getting a jerkier shift because your revs go a bit off. Anothe...

Re: How much is "off"? (revmatching)
I find that whenever I'm dead on, the synchros feel like they aren't there but by the time I let up the clutch, I get a slight tug. So I overshoot by 200-300 and the synchros don't make any fuss while letting up the clutch is also smooth.

If I was interested in buying I would have asked about the AC. Does the AC work good enough? How many times has it undergone major repair.
Well that's just because I live in a desert country where close to 50 degrees Celsius (122F) is not that uncommon

Re: Has Toyota EVER made a good looking car?
Well they don't have to make good looking designs in their bread and butter cars... Considering the designs of the other mainstream firms are going down the drain faster than theirs. e.g. The new Impreza, I like it, it's not bad at all but from Subaru I was expecting something SO much better. And th...

Re: have you guys had those moments .... (stalling bloopers)
Sorry to bring the thread back on-topic ;) BUT I had that moment last year. I had been driving my manual transmission car for a year and was getting pretty good at it. Then one summer night while I was out with friends my family decided to invite me to a dinner in a restaurant. I went there and we h...

I'd take the McLaren SLR. yes it's a slushie but looking at all of the other things, don't think I'd care at that point
