That's definitely a 5S-FE. 2.2L 4-cylinder S-series motor. Same as a lot of the 90s Celicas. I had a 3S-FE powered 1988 Camry for two weeks. It had 350,xxx kms on it, and it leaked water from the water pump like a sieve, to the tune of four litres per day. It was infuriating. I sold it the moment we...

Squeaky styrofoam sounds like glass starting to crack.

I made a three hour drive on Friday night/Saturday morning, and I found myself nodding off a few times. Windows down, music way up, singing along. Kept me good and awake.

HP/weight, coupled with torque wherever you were in revs. Torque converters don't help, but at that speed it shouldn't have been a big deal. Prodigal's right, though -- you can't lose unless you agree to! I had a creepy new Mustang following me on the highway while I was rushing home - not just behi...

For some of us, it's just not practical to get hit from behind. Even if it's no financial strain on us, since we're not paying for it, I'm getting sick of having to find a new car every time someone wrecks one of mine. Coming into a stop sign, I will do one of two things. 1) Downshift through each g...

When I got my car, it had a horrible ticking noise from the engine. (Not rod knock or anything, don't worry, I had it checked out.) The best guess anyone could make was that it was my timing chain, which still appeared fine. I took my car out one night and ran it with a 1JZ '91 Supra, and a Spoon'd ...

1983 Toyota Celica GT 22r-e: 2.4L I4 (106hp) W58 5-speed manual transmission - Custom-built front strut tower brace - Celica Supra driver/passenger seats - New rear window (putting this in was a bitch) - Presure washed off 80% of the shitty graffiti that was on it. - 14x7 Celica Supra alloys - Supra...

I just want another light, naturally aspirated Supra with bitchin' lotus-esque suspension, and less round (buttplug) body styling.

My car actually feels much more stiff and new when it's cold. (And I mean cold. Like, ~-30 C cold.)

The clutch engages stronger, the shifter moves around less, and the brakes are better. Sometimes even the speedometer works.

Be nice to Toyota drivers. They're not 'funny' really. Most of them are aging soccer moms who don't want to pay for gas, and get the kids around in a nice, cheap, comfortable car. And obviously, I think we're forgetting about the AE86 GT-S and the AE85 SR5 when we make fun of Corollas. Then we get i...
