Re: Manual vs. Automatic, long term maintenanace cost compar

204,000 miles here... Drag race Powershift HT DCDS ORIGINAL CLUTCH!!! I dont have good luck AT ALL with automatic transmissions. Even you do perform regular maintenance, its still gonna go out. The way they set the newer auto trannys to shift makes them slip the clutches on shifts. Or they use TORQU...

AutoStick is JUNK... I guess that would be why the Bugatti Veyron and Ferrari Enzo use tiptronic-based transmissions  No. I was referring to automatic transmissions with the "Autostick" features. Not paddle-shifted manuals. Sure paddle-shifted manuals are nice but I'd prefer a REAL ...

^^+1 But until you are used to your car and can shift well at low revs, I seriously suggest that you do not try to doing hard launches or shifting at red line. If you mess up with that much power you can seriously break things both inside and outside the car. Learn to walk before you try to run. Wa...

Oh, so youre on the org too? I go by the same name over there also.

I thought about the pedal adjustment also but I dont think it adjustable on 5.5 gens. It may be adjustable on the 5th gens. Its definately adjustable on the 4th gens.

What is your name on the org?

Yeah...

high engagement point with a narrow engagement zone. It sucks. Maybe the new clutch will help. When this one dies, Im putting in an aftermarket clutch.

If you don't like drive by wire, start walking. No, I dont like DBW. But Imma keep driving, thank you! I hate that the OEM's are taking control away from us REAL drivers. I hate that manual transmissions are being phased out. I hate "Auto-Stick" or whatever you wanna call it. I hate that ...

I'm curious why, by default, they have a throttle delay that could be easily eliminated with a PCM reflash... I can't imagine any advantage to having a throttle delay. Well... I dont know. But I will say this. When the OEM's build cars, they sacrifice performance for comfort. They sacrifice comfort...

I hate DBW!

I HATE DBW! Well, at least in the 2002 Nissan Maxima. And in the 2006 Ford Mustang GT. The delay in those 2 cars is ridiculous. I was driving along on the highway one day and I decided to test the DBW delay. So at 75mph, I stab the throttle real quick. It responded to the initial stab of the throttl...

Oh yes... The creep. Do a no-gas pull off, and stay far emough behind people that you dont have to stop every time the traffic stops. Sometimes, I left my Maxima drag against the brakes (its got enough torque to do that). When I have passengers, they wonder why the engine is chugging along. They thi...
