I admit that I didn't read the entire topic, but I would like to insert my two cents into your lovely conversation. I have had 3 Ford cars so far, and I have no reason to complain. Not a single reason. My current Ford Focus ZX3 runs great although I already put 83k miles on it. Well, maybe it has so...

I was trying to find the related information on the VWP online but could find nothing that would throw the light upon the SteveUK's claims. If the States do terminate the VWP, the EU will be fully justified to do the same. It would hurt the US economy and cause more anger toward the States from thos...

I too was planning to go to Europe (Germany to be precise), but my plans suddenly changed and I spent yet another hot summer in Sacramento. Damn it, I even learned all the European traffic rules--an they ain't easy, I should tell ya--and all for nothing. Some day... some day I will get to drive on A...

Usually, the reverse gear does not have a synchronizer, and that might be the reason for grinding. My previous car Escort ZX2 used to make this noise but only when the layshaft was still spinning. Now, I have the Focus, and it doesn't make this noise. I wouldn't say that grinding noise in reverse in...

Not including the fuel economy, how does braking from 6K rpm with the throttle shut off compare to idling. Sorry, if my original question sounded confusing.

What is less harmful: idling or 6K rpm w/o combustion?

I had an interesting discussion on another forum about this. My opponent claimed that being at 6K rpm with the fuel completely cut off (just pumping air) is less harmful for the engine than idling. How would local gurus comment on this subject?

Hehe... That is what New Year is all about  In Ukraine where I am from, New Year is more like Christmass here: a family celebration w/ New Year Tree. So, I had to be stuck with my parents on the New Year's Eve. It sucked, to say the least. Damn... drinking champaign while watching as the New Yo...

coolguy, I noticed that lots of new cars with smaller engines <2L come with the manual as a standard. Almost all 2.0L Foci are manual, New Beetles are mostly manual, Golfs, Jettas, not to mention Civics. Also, these days it is not rare to see a girl's car eqiped with the manual tranny. On the other ...

It is too bad that in the States, police never enforce such "minor" violations as unsafe lane changes, hanging out in the fast lane, and failure to use turn signals. Recently, I saw one guy on an SUV cutting off a cop without signaling his intentions, and guess what? Nothing happened :shoc...

When it comes to Rammstein, I think the best driving song is "Feuer Frei". When I am driving, I just listen to the songs I like, so I don't pick any special driving music. What I like is mostly Classic Rock, but I also like Metallica, AC/DC, Russian Rock, etc. Rolling Stones rule! 8)

Hey, back to the subject! http://mikul.net/pics/cars_history/festiva_side.jpg My parents bought this '91 Ford Festiva for me in 2001 for $800. The car didn't look good outside, but its engine was in perfect shape. So, at the time we bought it, I didn't know how to drive the stickshift. My mom showed...
