Re: You Gotta Beef Wit Dat?
Probably just trying to cut corners to sqeeze out some more profit which seems to be the order of the day. VW cut a few corners with their diesel emission scandal, paid a fine or Two and life goes on for them.

Re: RANT: Photobucket broke DIY auto repair threads
Then Photobucket said they want $400 per year if you want to continue with the previously free service. If it was $10 a year they might have a chance of someone paying it, but $400 is a bit steep. I remember when Webshots did the same thing and dumped everyone that would not pay.

Re: Warranty Wars
I remember back in the 70's when automakers offered 12 months or 12 mile warrantys. Could have used a longer warranty on my dad's 78 Chevette. VW offering a decent warranty that can be transfered to the next owner is a step in the right direction for the company. Have not personally owned any VW's o...

I like those Harbor Freight hitch haulers. I bought my generator and jump pack from HF. I Remember the old Dodge Omni. You could haul some stuff in the old hatchbacks. We used to haul a lot of stuff in my dad's old hatchback Chevette. Anyway, here's a photo of the Buick hauling two bargain clearance...

Modern Amish Transportation
Interesting article in Car & Drive about Amish Buggies. They actually have a dashboard and battary and a choice of drum or disc brakes. The brakes are so the buggy won't run over the horse after you pull the reins to stop. Link here: http://blog.caranddriver.com/the-surprisingly-modern-tech-insi...

Nice new ride. Hyundai does make a nice reliable vehicle for the money. My wife and I bought a new loaded V6 Sonata in 2004 for $21,000. Wife drove it for 6 years, then it became my father in laws in 2010 for the next 5 years. Now my brother is driving it to work everyday with no problems.

Nissan Versa Drops The Manual in 2017
Drove an Versa and it reminded me of my 78 Chevette. The Elantra seems like a luxury car in comparison. They are yet another model dropping the manual for 2017. http://blog.caranddriver.com/off-note-refreshed-2017-nissan-versa-note-abandons-the-manual/ Probably should post this in the video section,...

Re: 17 impreza dropping the manual
That company was one of the only remaining car makers where you could get an AWD with a manual. Guess I will now have to keep my AWD Element with an MT forever. Not the cheapest car on the market, but AUDI has some more manual trans options. Link below http://blog.caranddriver.com/2017-audi-a4-adds-...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Speaking of parking brakes...I hate those new push button parking brakes. With the conventional parking brake, a new manual driver could use it as a hill holder gradually letting it off as they start. The DRL-off position is the first detent of parking brake. That is also the "DING DING DING YO...

Re: Big center consoles
In my old 4 speed 78 Chevette you had the drive shaft right next to your leg. It got a little warm and you leg was right next to it as it was not protected by much. There was a reason people called that car drywall on wheels. You adjusted the clutch cable by removing a c-clip and pulling the cable w...

I remember when the vans were manual trans. Neighbors parents had a 68 Chevy Van. Anyone remember those. The motor sat beside you with a cover on it. No cupholders back then. Also rode in a 77 or so Dodge van with a 3 speed manual. Oh man. i get to drive a vehicle next week. a 00'ish chevy express 2...

Re: Odd Vehicles With A Manual Trans
I only rode the school one to kindergarten during the 1966-67 school year. Even at 5 years old, I still remember the school bus being a manual. I am guessing you can still order a manual school bus, but they probably don't get any requests. Did a quick search and found a 1997 5 speed manual school b...

I have driven an Caravan & Aerostar with a 5 Speed, but never did drive a manual Astro. Another interesting Astro Van was the AWD version. If someone wants an AWD beater vehicle, the AWD Astro's can still be found at a reasonable price. My car currently has the T5 5-speed manual from a Chevy Ast...

Odd Vehicles With A Manual Trans
Saw an article today about some odd vehicles that were offered with a manual transmission. It talked about a 1989 & 90 Dodge Caravan that offered a turbo and a manual trans. If they still offered that, I would probably be paying a visit to the dealership for a test drive. When the turbo Caravan ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Have fun on the trail. I rode the trail today. The paved kind. Also have an 08 Giant Bike. I have the OCR 2. Had not had any flat tires on the bike in a year, but had Two last weekend. One on the front, and one on the back. I had to pull my old 1976 model Fuji bicycle back in service for the weekend...
