Re: What do you guys think of snow chains?

No need. Vast majority of mud tires have the severe snow rating on them. Buy a set of cheap mud tires and sipe them. Re: Stick Passenger Stories

Four or five us us got into a car at work to go out to lunch. Into the car next to us, our chief engineer and some of his managers and supervisors pile in. Chief Engineer is driving. He turns the key to the crank position and the car lurches forward and hits the parking curbstone (in the daze befor...

My Dad's first truck had a 3 speed with a column shifter. Called it a three on the tree.

Re: clutch slip in 1st

Just calm down, man. As long as you aren't an idiot your clutch will last for longer than you may own the car. My Jeep's clutch was replaced recently, and I seriously doubt it will be replaced again while I own it.

He is joking. The tachometer isn't even completely necessary, and some cars don't even have them.

Re: How far must the clutch be pressed when shifting?

I would disagree here. My new clutch is completely disengaged before I am halfway to the floor, and shifting when it is disengaged will cause no unnecessary wear, IMO.

Re: Different Ground condition driving

Get a hand throttle. You can make one with a bike shifter.
