Re: Project Christine slo Hackensteinberg

The engine, while I never would expect it to perform well with (or even without) a heavy load, was really bad. I checked it out and found that I had some awful vacuum leaks. While I was following the vacuum spaghetti under the hood I noticed that a spark plug wire was sitting on the exhaust manifol...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I continue to go back and forth with myself about the 2 door sporty cars: Mustang, Camaro, Challenger. On the one hand I've liked the Mustang since I was little and think it would be fun to have, but on the other hand I don't know that I could live with it day to day. I like a bit of room to stretc...

Re: Project Christine slo Hackensteinberg

I went to Advance Auto, doubtful that they could help with the pilot bushing. I pulled up and the dude outside taking a break asked what year my GTI is. I told him it's a 2008 Rabbit and we had that discussion for a few minutes then I went inside. Inside a man about Rope-Pusher's age, who apparentl...

Re: Project Christine slo Hackensteinberg

Long time no update, eh? It has had various repairs but nothing particularly interesting, really. I guess I never posted the results from my leveling quest; I went with the big red bags and they worked great, though they needed a spacer to produce the right height. I even towed a ridiculous rig with...

Re: Finally got another car

I already can't remember what it was, and the photo doesn't load. What was it?

And yeah, in New England if you want to get there fast then a low-clearance sporty car is NOT a good choice with all the slowing for bumps and such.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I submitted my windshield claim online. Then I lazily didn't follow up to schedule the appointment. Today my clutch stopped releasing and I'm dragging the car home from work (about 40 miles) once my dad gets here with his truck. I keep the tow bar and such in the car in case of this sort of thing. I...

Re: I think I found the worst thing about interior design for manual transmission cars

My GTO came with a feature when I shifted into first, it changed radio stations for me. That's what I call awesome design! My wife's Sunfire has a similar feature. When you shift into 5th, the cap on a fast food cup pops off. Also, the HVAC controls are hidden neatly behind the cup holders. If one ...

Re: I hate this car

It's probably a lot more like the 5MT that was in my 2008 Rabbit, which, on paper, had an overdrive or two...but in reality its ultra-short final drive meant it ran out of gears by the time I got to 25mph and I wanted ten more gears if they must be so short and so closely-spaced. Power was plentiful...
