Re: no cell phones while driving

New York has had this for quite some time, I think it may have been the first state to do so. People were up in arms when they proposed it but now I tend to think it's a better idea, although there are still plenty of people who still talk on their phones while driving (w/o Bluetooth). I think it'd ...

Well, my next guess was going to be catalytic converter heat shield rattling, but it sounds like you got it figured out. Just for kicks I'll stick my head under there and see if anything is clearly loose or not, but yeah it would seem as though I've pinpointed the problem. Thanks for the help, guys!

Re: New car - Probably just paranoid. Convince me I am.

Thanks for the replies, A bit more detail, remember when you were a kid and you put a baseball card on your bike wheel? Think of that sound but at a much shorter frequency (like you're riding your bike at a fairly slower pace) and very muffled. That's about the best I can describe it as . The c...

New car - Probably just paranoid. Convince me I am.

Hi guys, been awhile since I posted around here. Recently bought a 2003 Ford Focus ZX5, standard (obviously). 99,000 on it, runs great. Anyway, whenever I buy a new car I tend to be extremely paranoid towards any sorta noise that seems a bit out of place. Here's whats up: when car is in neutral, clu...

I usually just keep my foot on the brake and make the switch quick enough to catch the car before I roll into the person behind me.

I haven't stalled very recently but needless to say it does happen. I usually just get myself going again quickly and look around to see who just saw me stall my car.

Ford Contour huh? What engine, what year?
It's a 1999. 4 cylinder, not sure about any specifics deeper than that . It's a little sewing machine and its effects are definitely felt on hills.

Specifically Rochester. Hoping to move out of this city and possibly downstate after college is done. The last straw with this city was the recent decision to take Opie and Anthony off the radio. This is a dying city!

Thanks to everyone else!

Hello from New York

Hello everyone, I've been prowling the forums for a few days now and it seems like a friendly place to discuss the love of driving stick shift. I live in New York and drive a little 5-speed Ford Contour. It's my first car and so far has served me well. :) Only thing that's been bugging me is somethi...
