Re: 2012 Challenger SRT8

Meh...

In the traffic I drive in day-to-day, I'm getting 19mpg. My Edge gets 20.6. Nothing I've owned has gotten better than 23-25.

I'm happy. it's comfortable and can still misbehave when I want to get stupid.

Re: 2012 Challenger SRT8

Umm... it is. No big deal.

Didn't look at the CTS-V, though I understand they're great cars.

Out the door for $48K for the Challenger, plus liberal trade-in for the Shelby.

Periodic gout and a bad left knee.

Someone else will enjoy the Shelby more.

Pics later this week!

Re: 2012 Challenger SRT8

Sorry to disappoint everyone.

Only other option I thought about was the new 580hp Camaro. I find it ugly.

2012 Challenger SRT8

Traded the Shelby in on a Challenger a month or so ago... black w/ charcoal interior. 470hp, 470 lbs feet of torque. Supposedly good for mid-high 12's in the quarter, top speed 175. And, sorry... it's an automatic. :( The car is much quieter and more comfortable than the Shelby was. You can actually...

Re: thread of really bad things.

I seldom even go 6-7,000 miles between oil changes even when there's a factory monitor/light. As a fleet manager, though, I've had guys slip through the cracks and go 25,000+. That's not pretty. Fastest? I've had a 1992 Taurus SHO, 1996 Trans Am, 2005 GTO, and my Shelby at 130+ and the GTO just a sm...

Re: Reverse gear position

Only problem is 1-2 grind for some cars. Otherwise, twin 9.8" disc clutch + short-throw shifter = easy but firm, smooth shifts. Good times!

Needs wider tires, though - traction's an issue.

Re: The MPG thread

Have never driven in snew...

Tahoe 20.4mpg. Probably 60% hwy, 40% heavy traffic/stop and go.
GT 500 18.1mpg. Same.
Mitsubishi around 22mpg, I'm guessing. More city driving.

Bentley Continental GT and an amazing black 458 Italia in the parking lot at Charlie Gitto's in Chesterfield last week. No cam available. :( The 458 was gorgeous!

Only once - at about 75. My car passed out! Emergency flashers, restart - everything was OK.

Whew!

We'll miss the greatest golfer the world has ever known... hopefully his son can manage a couple of holes-in-one per round.

Re: So what is the best manual you've ever driven?

I've never been much of a driver - never learned heel/toe, double-clutching, I'm so-so at rev matching, so I need all the help I can get! Have only had 3-4 manuals. '72 AMX Javelin, '95 Neon Sport Coupe (don't laugh! at the time it was the 2nd fastest Mopar, next to the Viper). Have driven a few oth...
