Re: Being the passenger in other stick cars

I love when people get into my car and are in awe that it's stick. I hate/love it when some passengers get in and ask me as I shift "why do you go up and down?" because they think automatic is the only thing

Re: Things You'll Never Do If You Drive a Stick:

These are not absolutes but come on and post up your thoughts two. I'll start it off with these three: 3. Let a valet park your car. That's a given. I was on vacation and took a road trip, and at each of the three hotels we stopped for I had to drive the car into the valet lot with the valet office...

Re: Are there any good CVTs?

No, there are not. The CVTs in Nissans still suck. The rare CVT in Chrysler products sucks. I have no further experience. +1 they make the car feel like it's accelerating like a boat with no ratio jump between gears. Supposedly they are to always hold the engine in the power band, but again there i...

Re: 3 on the Tree

They're a pain to drive lol... Usually no power steering, and the clutch was like pushing the break when the car is off. It's a full body workout to navigate a parking

Lol, that's quite the system.

If service is bad, I'll tip $1 or $2

Re: If the world had just 100 cars

Not surprising most are manual. Only North America is lazy enough to not bother with standard, and in other countries you HAVE to start and take driving tests in a manual unless you have a reasonable disability

Re: Can you hold hold gas while downshift revmatching?

Usually it's not wise to hold the gas as you let off the clutch when downshifting. It's putting to much pressure on the engine mounts/output shafts. Best to blip it to the proper RPM or a little higher depedning how quick you let out the clutch

Re: Slow highway merging

I hate this more than anything. Where I live we have a nice looooooong on ramp for the purpose of accelerating to freeway speed, and yet people still cruise on the ramp at 60-70km/h and merge at that speed (often braking as they merge). I HATE IT. If you are not confident behind the wheel, you shoul...

I'll never own an automatic again. The day I am too old to drive standard is the day I am too old

Re: New from Ontario eh!

my impreza has the hill-assist. I hate it so much, especially because it fights against the clutch sometimes.. WRX is a fun car to drive, a difficult starter car, the clutch is heavy, short, and sensitive, so it will force you to become a very proficient manual driver in no time! Hope you like it!

Re: Do you ever worry about resale value?

Declining demand for manuals would implicate the resale value of all manual transmission cars, including manual-only models like Golf R, Mazdaspeed3, Civic Si, etc. (both private sale and trade-in). But.....declining supply of manual transmission cars would positively affect the resale value of all...
