The Death of the Manual Transmission

When the Acura dealer tried to get me into a 2009 TL, I had to ask where the 6-MT went... and the dealer had nothing to say, except to show off the shiny F1 paddle shifters... This editorial details everything that is wrong with the general trend in the automotive market... http://editorial.autos.ms...

Acura

I own an '05 TL (plan on buying a new one in '08 when the platform changes) and I am buying an RDX next week. I love Acuras and they make reliable cars. The TL is a great car and has a lot of power plus a boatload of standard features to boot. Plus if you are buying, Acura is having their year-end s...

Going to school early

I've been kinda following along this thread for a while now and I kept quiet. Based on some posts, it sounds like Eaglecatcher is interested in a career in medicine. I am a practicing physician. I worked as a hospitalist for a while and I am back in training now to become an interventional cardiolog...

I'd also go out on a limb and say that the 300ZXs is not a good looking car- but that's preference and has no bearing on performance.

Good job on the M3 Gary... Looking at either the M3 or M5 in the next year or two.

No Way

I would never go to Midas or Firestone- they are overpriced, often times crappy mechanics, and may even worsen the underlying problem. The dealer will usually do it right and well, but of course it will cost significantly more to do. Labor costs can be higher as well. My TL is under warranty so it's...

I recharged my old neon in 2003 for $99- I just went to some local shop in the area.

My test back in CT was 3 right turns around the block, a left turn into the parking lot and, a reverse park into a spot in the lot with no cones. Total time... 3 minutes

Man, I was stuck on the 405 yesterday trying to make my way towards LAX. 3 miles ahead they had shut down 3 lanes for a car that spun out (how do you spin out in generally slow moving traffic?). Needless to say, the clutch foot got a workout, inching along for 2 hours. To top it off, once we got to ...

Every time I bring the TL in for warranty service, they keep giving me the same auto TSX. It takes me a good 5 minutes to get my bearings by the loss of the clutch. Wish they could at least give me a MT to drive around- and another TL to boot.

So the service guys say the the left e-brake line was bad and was not disengaging. They claim the discs and rotors were fine though. Hopefully they are right. As much as I love my TL, I seem to be going back to the dealer every 2 months for something. I'll make the most of my 7 year warranty at this...

Vibration and Thunk!

Weird problem started with the TL a couple weeks ago. It started off with me driving on the highway with sudden development of total car vibration (everything was shaking). After this happened a couple times, I thought that maybe my wheel balance was off, but I just had them balanced at the dealer w...

I'm sure you can find a nice grippy aftermarket floormat to replace your stock ones. I did that in my old neon and it worked much better than the originals.

I've seen these wax/wash products as well. However, the common sentiment I hear is that a product that does two things that are so separate is unlikely to do both well. Do you get good results with the combo products?
