Re: Upshifting Technique Question

I float out clutch in with most of my shifts on my Jeep. Just seems to be a habit I've unconsciously gotten into from driving a big truck more than my personal vehicle. It does seem to be pretty smooth most of the time though.

Re: Hello from Toronto! New manual driver.

What everyone else has said plus I'll add taking those turns at intersections parking lots etc my usual mo is to slow down to what I need staying in the higher gear. Re: jerky upshifting question?

I know that's right. I've found myself numerous times having a conversation driving laughing so hard I was almost in tears and still somehow did what I had to do.

My wife learned maybe enough to get me to the hospital with a broken leg and still doesn't understand how I know when to shift even with music cranked. Mostly feel no looking at the tach really.

I can't really remember not knowing because I started learning about 8 or 9 years old and have barely owned an automatic. It's always interesting to read these threads.

That's gotta be pretty dangerous around there. From what I have seen of Detroit they are pretty good for driving bumper to bumper as fast as they can hold it in the road.....whether the car falls apart or not.

I don't get the tech hate. Not at all. I can understand people wanting simplicity. I can understand not wanting to bother with some of the "extras" like auto climate control versus standard knobs or auto adjusting seats or whatever... But I don't really understand the people that want the...
