what have you ahd to clean out of there? most i've had so far was a few leaves and couple of small dead bugs. but i haven't had the car all that long. A dead pidgeon, well actually it was a rock dove I imagine it was a terrible death. the STi tranny and clutch are pretty tough. your friends must ha...

I'm having this same problem. I am wondering, how did you remedy this situation? I'm pretty Handy, can you describe specifically what needs to be fixed?

Also warner, seeing as how we have similar cars, I am curious what Subaru Said if you did in fact bring it in for them to look at.

Subaru STI was my first new car. I don't recommend you buy it as a novice since 1. its very likely that you'll wreck/damage your clutch/tranny like all my friends who got an STI or Evo as their first car or first MT car. Although I didn't, its because i'm a pretty conservative driver 2.Its preety fa...

Just Slip it, Its cheaper to replace a clutch than a transmission

Are you dropping the clutch? Ideally you shouldn't be getting that much wheel spin. Lol.. I do that too 'cept Usually when the 99 camaro-driving fred durst hat wearing individual wants to go at the light, i give him the casual shrug, rev the engine of my 05 STi and just look ahead. Lol just messin w...

That WRX is clearly not stock, you can't upshift or downshift like that normally. I think he has lighter flywheel, nonstock gear box, etc.

Although i'm probably a bit biased, Mitsu vehicles tend to break easy. Thats probably why the warranty is so long. Of course i'm speaking from within a racing context. My friends who wail on their Evo's are wrought with problems from denied warranty claims to snapped transmissions. But specifically,...

:And yes u were right about the no slipping of the other upshifts for some cars. For some other cars, however, 2-3 upshift STILL requires a lesser degree of slipping. Now go ahead try the reverse gear and see what happens.  Yah i slip for first gear and for reverse. fine  But no ...

Lol the ^^^^^^^^^^^ Post isn't completely accurate. I still have to slip it in for first gear lol. But in between shifts, 2-3; 3-4 etc, there is no slip when engaging the clutch

I engage the clutch with no slip and yet get seemless shifts, lol feels like a brand new automatic car. Takes more skill to engage the clutch with no slip if you ask me. Oh yah, and theres the issue of less clutch wear.

Is letting the clutch out realy that necessary? Couldn't you just wait for the intermediate shaft to slow down on its own, with the clutch in?

I would Think So as there is no friction between the plates, but i've always been told that its bad to ride the clutch whether fully depressed or not. So i stay off it as much as possible.
