Re: shifting from first to second weird
If it's off it all feels normal. Even if the cars on and I'm at a stop with the clutch in moving through the gears it feels normal. Only when I'm accelerating this happens. I wonder if a failed engine/transmission mount (possibly combined with a failed shifter cable housing mount) could allow the t...

Re: shifting from first to second weird
when i shift into first gear the length of the throw feels normal just like when i go into any of the other 5 gears. but lets say im in traffic and start moving in first gear and have to stop again, as i slow down and i shift into neutral , the length of the throw going to neutral feels shorter. it...

Re: shifting from first to second weird
The 1>2 shifts smoothing out when you side-load the knob to the left sounds like a misadjusted Select cable. I think your 1st/2nd shift plane is narrow and you are rubbing on the right side of it unless you side-load to the left. Prolly catching the corner of the gate between 2nd and 4th after you ...

shifting from first to second weird
So what im going to explain is kind of long and maybe confusing to understand but bear with me. when im shifting from first to second gear, when i push the shifter out of first it feels strange like a very short throw as if the shifter wanted to come out of gear and it just needed some pressure from...

Re: ideal rpm to get moving in first gear
IMBoring25 pretty much covered it. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or something doesn't make sense. However, in regards to what you said... ...I can get moving around 1100, 1200 but that takes me a little longer and I dont want to slip it longer than I need to and hold up cars behind me ...

Re: ideal rpm to get moving in first gear
It is better to launch at lower RPM and get the clutch fully out as soon as possible, but you haven't listed an RPM that's really abusive and you have a basic idea of what you're trying to do. More advanced skills don't demand RPM to accelerate moderately...You use more throttle but move the clutch...

ideal rpm to get moving in first gear
Ive had my car (first manual) for almost 3 months now and im pretty much driving smoothly but one thing I have been wondering is what is the ideal rpm to take off smoothly AND quickly without wearing out the clutch prematurely. Not excessively quick but not slow either. I find when I want to get mov...

Re: clutch noise in neutral
Folks, don't forget the other condition he mentioned: Engaged, yes, but also in neutral . The release bearing is under the same pressure regardless of gear choice/neutral. Everything tilts a little from torque when in gear, which would not affect the release bearing, could affect the transmission's...

Re: clutch noise in neutral
its hard to describe but its sounds like a noise that would come from engine idling. I wouldnt notice the noise was there if i didnt push down on the clutch and realized it went away. not a loud obvious noise but you definitely notice it once it goes away when clutch is depressed. and i know nothing...

clutch noise in neutral
So whenever I get home from a drive and put car in neutral and let up off the clutch, i hear a constant noise and when I push down on the clutch, the noise is gone.
This only happens after a drive. I dont hear it when I first turn on the car before leaving my house. Is it normal? thanks

Re: second gear click feeling
F the car is sitting still, engine idling, with your foot fully depressing the clutch pedal, can you shift from Neutral into 2nd w/o the click? Does it change anything if you shut off the engine and repeat the above actions? F it makes a difference with the engine off vs. on, I'd suspect the clutch...

The only time it doesnt happen is when I shift into second parked, foot still on clutch go in neutral and back in s...
