Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm overdue but I'm still here... though my GTI is not. I ended up re-selling it back to the dealership I bought new 2 weeks ago and ended an era. I loved the car and I'm grateful for all the assistance and guidance this forum has provided me for years. This car never stranded me, but definitely wa...

Re: Weighted Shift Knobs

What happened to people doing short shifter mods?? I did that as well as kind of an "all-in-one" project. It took me about an hour only to take off my old shift knob, replace the knob and fix up the boot > remove my old shifter piece and put in the new one and re-calibrate the links. The ...

Re: Weighted Shift Knobs

Anyone ever swap out their OEM shift knob for a weighted one? Reason I ask is because there's a guy on the Audi forums who decided to pop the top off of his OEM shift knob and fill it with lead shot. Then he poured in a bit of Elmer's glue to keep the shot from rattling around and also to add a bit...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Teamwork, don't forget to take into consideration the backseat room, if you ever plan to put a car seat back there. CX-3 backseat might be fine for a short ride with your buddies, but will it fit a carseat without the front passenger seat having to be pushed into the dashboard? That said, you can p...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The engine may be an older design, but it still works fantastically, in my opinion anyway. For Jeezy Ceezy's sake GM made the 3800 for nigh on 30 years and just made advancements to keep it relevant and those who frequent online fora refer to driving that engine as worshipping at the alter of torqu...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I assume they had high end Mazda trees there and that’s the price you’re talking about. The lower trims I remember being priced much lower. After driving a cr-v this weekend (sister’s loaner car), I couldn’t imagine going for the hr-v. What about the cx-30 or 4 or Whatever was going to be slotted b...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Well, I'm a month deep now at my new job and I have to say the transition has been beautiful... hindsight being 20/20 but I wish I made the leap of faith earlier. Still have ties to my old team and a lot of my colleagues say people have jumped ship and have been overall miserable. This year already ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Rob, I'm guessing it's more to do with his bride being unable to and uncomfortable learning to drive a manual. An auto just makes it easier to switch off. Correct- I no longer have the luxury of relying on my parents or in law's parents to borrow cars if something unreliable did surface. That is pa...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The lack of an armrest isn't a weird deal breaker. You want what you want and don't need to justify it. I personally would consider a CX-3, but for the fact that there's no real armrest (the ones that flip down don't count in my book). The again I'm single and have no desire to change that any time...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Personal suggestion. Unless you don't value your hearing, avoid the Fit. Unless it's changed that thing is loud, buzzy, and spins entirely too fast on the freeway. If I recall from my rental it was running right around 3500 RPM at 70 mph. It's also pretty tinny. Of the other vehicles you mentioned,...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I have to say, after over 90k combined miles, I'm pretty much over the turbocharged motor deal for a DD vehicle. It's just...not worth it to me as a consumer. It's more complex, it's less reliable (in my experience) and while it wasn't costly out of pocket for me, I think it certainly has a high po...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm confused, Team, are you currently driving an Accord as a rental? The post makes it sound like you have some first hand knowledge about what's what. WRT the tank size. If it's anything like the 2 Accords I've had there's a 17 gallon tank in there. In my 03 I waited until the light came on and th...
