its not his fault, its those damn jewish writersEvicatos wrote:No, no, the thing that made Vin Diesel's "granny shifting" statement hilariously retarded is that he was talking about upshifting.

Re: New Clutch
you are exactly right. you don't want to break these in like brake pads, even though they are made of similar material. wear it in gently and it will eventually be broken in. with both my civic and maxima it took a few months to break in the new clutches so they weren't grabbing hard and so you did...

New Clutch
okay here's the dilemma. i just got a new clutch installed on my b-series and its a little spongy. my father said he talked to a guy he knows who used to work for mazda (back when they were mazda mazdas, not ford mazdas or the like) and he said that the symptoms of my clutch are actually quite commo...

Re: is this normal?
Slow is likely to get your rear end smacked on the speedbump on your way over. The proper method is to take the bump at a diagonal whenever possible if you dont want to bottom out. i had a friend that worked at a bank that had to go over about 4 speed bumps to get in the bank, and about 5 to get ou...

Re: How to treat my clutch better than my girlfriend
It's the truth. I was quite methodical about measuring my fuel economy at every fill up. I've done the research, and whatever you want to say about theory, IRL you have to have 20% change in weight in an underpowered vehicle or >30% change in weight in a reasonably powered vehicle before you can me...

i have a hard time believing that you notice no significant difference in fuel economy with an additional 1000 lbs in your truck

Re: How to treat my clutch better than my girlfriend
that sucks about your rear end sliding everywhere. adding weight to your rear end does help, but at the detriment to gas mileage. but with that truck im assumming that gas mileage isnt what you were going for. if i was you i would look up about proper rev-matching on shifts, and then eventually, rea...

Re: Gear Lube
The vehicle manufacturer did a bajillion test miles with the lube they recommend in the owners manual. The synchronizers, gears, bearings, seals (URK! URK!) etc. were all designed to work with that stuff. Special additives may even have been incorporated into the lube specification to improve cold ...

Re: Gear Lube
so my best bet is to just leave it as is? my father told me i should do it, but he's old and stubborn so if he heard it and got it in his mind that it was right, no amount of logic would make him think otherwise. the only reason i want to change the gear lube is because im not exactly sure how hard ...

Gear Lube
i was wondering what your preferred gear lube is for your lovely MT. i hear from alot of people that Royal Purple is the way to go, but jesus christ is that shit expensive. also while im at it, i was wondering if after 130000 miles of a car using 10w30 that i can switch it to synthetic without worry...

Re: DSG a threat to the future of the manual transmission?
i like this thread, so im gonna dig it up we shouldn't be trying to make driving easier. maybe we should be making it harder? make automatics, CVTs, DSG, IVTs and even synchronizers illegal! that way everyone not only has to learn how to drive a stick, they have to learn how to double clutch! oh the...

Re: What's the worst clutch torture you've personally witnessed?
Are you sure his car didn't have rev hang? I can't rev match my upshifts, unless I want to wait 3 seconds for the RPM to stop holding steady... no he was just speed shifting trying to look cool and for some reason thought he could dump the clutch and that would make him look cooler... what he doesn...

Re: What's the worst clutch torture you've personally witnessed?
i was driving with someone today who, whenever sitting on a hill would keep the clutch barely engaged and rev the engine to about 2k. after we finally took off i just had to stare at him and laugh. (he thought i was the idiot) the only other bad thing i've seen is this kid i was driving with to scho...
