So I was driving today with a cooworker. We were going to a different store. I needed his help for a little bit. As we're driving (in my car) he starts asking me about driving a stick, as he's never driven one. So I kinda give him the theory behind it all (no one drives my car besides me a friend of...

Does it pop out, say, whjen you give it gas? If so, you may wanna check the motor mounts and tranny mounts. Broken mount may cause shifting of the tranny or engine and the torque resulting may pop the stick out of gear. Linkage is likely as well. Check for binds or something similar. Synchro is hard...

Most people would consider it "hard" knowing those two particular obstacles. If you don't have skill it can't be easy. Duh. :-D

Actually i've had similiar experience except not in fog but really heavy rain. Everyone was going 40 ish and so was I. Then in the next lane a huge pick up drives by and kicks up enough water to blind my windshield for a second. That was the scariest quit ever i swear. Even with my windshield wiper...

Like the guys said, either of those two are fine. I've learned to do steady gas launch with see-saw motion. It just worked, I guess. Practice, practice and more of that. It may take a while, depending how much seat time you have every day.

I never use the handbrake under ANY driving circumstances. I believe in the stationary heel-toe for hill starts and I use the footbrake to hold myself at lights. I think that any time you're using the handbrake, you're just adding unnecessary complication to what should be a simple procedure. I hav...

A lot of drivers on the highway become sheep. They just go where ever the one in front of them goes. Have you guys observed this? Sometimes the person in front will drive slightly to his left of right and the person behind them does something similar? When they straighten out so does the one that fo...

Sad, really. Here's one thing that makes me curios, quoted from a victim: "I was going into work and there was a little fog, not much. All of the sudden I hit a wall of smoke and about two seconds later, after I jammed on the brakes to slow down, I hit a small pickup truck that had already hit ...

Since I live in the flatlands here in Midwest where hills or even bumps are sparce (not to be confused with potholes) I just clutch out, in neutral and foot off everything. Chill time. It's rare that I have to hold the car at all, whether with a hand brake or a foot brake. I don't snooze behind the...

Something similar to John's story happened to me a long time ago, however it was a little different. I was with a friend of mine who's a really hot girl. We're driving downtown and I'm behind the wheel. Traffic is stop and go, stop and go.... There's a car to my right with 3 guys. They are honking a...
