Yikes - sounds like the car's clutch was on it's last legs. I'm sorry about all the money troubles. You may want to consider an alternative form of transportation (motorcycle, car-pooling, bus, etc). Why did you have to completely withdraw from school?

I'm thinking jomo is right. Being a 8-9 year old car, that's about the right time for the bearing to go. Get it checked out before you're stuck without a clutch.
