Re: Manual transmission drivers = elitists
A friend of mine called me elitist for buying a manual, I've also been called elitist for using a Mac. People can think what they want to think, I do what's best for me.

Just give er gas to get to speed then clutch in and coast. Rinse and repeat.

Mazda 6 Skyactiv Diesel is coming late this year in manual and auto, and Chevrolet is releasing a turbo diesel Cruze sometime this year as well although slushbox only.

Re: New technology will save the classic manual transmission
Lol I had a manual choke in my 85 and 86 Civic wagons, good times.
I always wondered if a CVT can be made to act like a manual transmission complete with clutch pedal and virtual gears, but it could all be automated if the driver didn't feel like shifting?

Re: Slow shifting and the risk of being rear-ended
A very valid concern. I always look in my rearview mirror when doing a 1->2 shift, but no one's actually hit me yet. It seems that minivans seem to be the biggest culprit, followed by SUVs. I wonder if it would actually do much damage, say you shift at 10mph and the minivan is doing 13-14mph when he...

A couple of inches can make a difference.
I remember seeing that the Honda Civic Wagon was better than Porsches in the slalom lol.

Re: Literally!
I had Nokian WR G2 LRR tires, they were pretty decent in the handling department. But this was in my Corolla. My Mazda 3's chassis capabilities may exceed the handling capabilities of these tires.

Re: Easiest/Hardest stick cars you've ever driven
It's unfortunate. My old 91 Corolla was pretty fun to drive, the shifter was pretty decent, not Miata/MR2 good but good enough.

Nice car. I'm glad Honda brought back the 6 speed manual in upper trim levels.

Re: Easiest/Hardest stick cars you've ever driven
Honestly, the car I've had the most trouble with is our Corolla. The pedals are way too small for my size 13 foot (not even that big!) and they're practically right on top of each other. Also the drive by wire throttle sucks. No response until almost an inch into the travel and then the rpm just sh...

Re: Would-be car thieves gave up, stick shift
I always love to hear these stories! But I had to find an alternate news source to share. http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Stick-shift-foils-armed-carjackers/-/1637132/18314838/-/8rplkp/-/index.html The racist and bigoted comments on the Fox news site were embarrassing to say the least. "The 10...

Less than half a year for the first incident, and then every couple of months after that. My knee problem hasn't come back since I got my Mazda 3.
It could've been anything really. I play hockey, I run.

Re: Driving a stick shift? Pros and cons of cars with manual
I can agree with this one: Depressing the clutch pedal is a way of life in stick shift cars, but the experience can be a bit more painful in cars with heavy clutch pedal feedback. Over time, it can definitely mess with your left leg, especially at the joints. The Exedy Stage 1 Clutch I put on my 5 t...

Re: The manual transmission penalty
You can get a fully loaded Rio5 SX and Accent GLS hatch at least in Canada (that I know of) with stick. Push button start, auto climate control, and all that. Interesting. For 2012 year, the push button start was not available on manual transes for Kia - only on the autos. things are different in c...
