It's not so much the crankshaft that's the weak point, it's the bearings it runs against... As per my post above, with reduced oil flow at those engine speeds, your rod bearings are more susceptible to being spun. That introduces a whole world of hurt.

Some more considerations: Cruise control is generally inefficient because all auto manufacturers choose to implement the system around a target vehicle speed. This makes sense as it makes the car more consistent in traffic; nobody has to adjust to you when you're driving. But if they monitored throt...
