squeaky sound when pressing the clutch
Hi i have 08 subaru wrx - pretty new and I've noticed that when i press the clutch in (heard it in garage with engine off) i got some high pitched squealing sound- very short like 0.5 secs if i press the clutch fairly slowly. if i press the clutch very fast i don't hear the squeal, only when i press...

Re: very stiff and sensitive clutch
you just need a bit more time to adapt, especially if you haven't driven stick before. I'd say about 4 month should get you pretty comfortable with smooth shifting. i have a very stiff clutch on my wrx as well and it does take time to get used to , but once you are done, it's just like any other clu...

Re: Driving in 2nd at low RPMs
It really depends on individual car- i have 5 speed 08 wrx and i can feel that on low speeds- like 5-10km/h -2nd gear is struggling and you can feel the engine going into an almost vibration stage where the car feels very sluggish when you press the gas to accelerate again. You can either double clu...

Re: What's the worst clutch torture you've personally witnessed?
All too often, I've seen clutch disks exploded due to over-revving. Usually occurs when someone gets lost in the shift pattern and downshifts mistakenly to 1st gear at some speed that puts the clutch well over 12,000 rpm. Typically, they try to absolve themselves of all blame by stating "But i...

Re: bumpier shifts after 30 mins of driving and tips on launches
The most aggressive launch i do in daily driving is from a stop in 1st, rev to 2k or 2.2k and let up the clutch pretty darn quick. If you drop it really quick, its more of a drag launch, with tires spinning till the road catches up, or if you let it up pretty quick, but not all the way up, its as i...

Re: bumpier shifts after 30 mins of driving and tips on launches
Less agressive launches come at any rpm range between 2.5k up to 5. That's a hell of an aggressive launch if you ask me. Unless you're all out drag racing with no regard to equipment (car), there's never any need to rev that high even for a quick launch that will spin the tires. Perhaps I wasn't ve...

Re: bumpier shifts after 30 mins of driving and tips on launches
the bumpiness of the shifts can come from you being tired or in agressive mood, thus trying to complete the shift as fast as possible and not being smooth in the process. Being smooth is the key- in every aspect of driving. You can do a very agressive launch by taking rpm up to 5k or so and releasin...

Re: Maxximus G-Force
What a ripoff - I don't see anything original in this 3million overpriced jet. And it eats a tank of gas in like 9 minutes. Much rather get an ultima gtr which is WAY cheaper and still holds the record on TOp gear test track beating ascari for like 5 secs at 1.12 vs 1.17. I'd like to see what this c...

Re: Going WOT on clutch release
If you get a jerk, you have an RPM mismatch. If you have an RPM mismatch: --You let out the clutch too early or too late --You didn't back off the throttle enough/at all If you're going WOT while the clutch is in, yore doing it rong. I go wot pretty much when the clutch is fully out, otherwise i'd ...

Re: Going WOT on clutch release
i'm gonna guess you mean you don't hit full boost until about 4400. turbo should start making positive boost probably around 2500-2800 or so. of course boost depends on load, not just rpm. yeah Jomo, precisely, full boost aint on till about 4.4 then u get a nice jolt, but boost is still being gener...

Re: Going WOT on clutch release
hmm, turbo doesn't kick in till like 4400, but the engine is getting significantly louder after 3.5k just as a consequence of rpms rising

Re: Modern Engine Tuning - book (with pdf)
The very end of the book. Literally, the last page in the section where he talks about automotive myths. Dang, last page. I was looking for this stuff in EFI section but didn't find it:) Perhaps since the book is 97 (2nd edition) there weren't many good injector cleaners back in those days who know...

Re: Going WOT on clutch release
Fast or smooth...choose one. If you just want the engine noise but aren't really in a hurry, you could sacrifice your clutch by feathering it to smooth the shift while still making all the power your engine can. nah engine noise with no corresponding speed increase sucks - sounds like you are drivi...

Re: Modern Engine Tuning - book (with pdf)
It was a good read but I disagree with some points based on personal experience. He speaks of rarely seeing clogged injectors. Happened on my rig and confirmed by a flow test at a shop. I personally saw flow rates for each injector. Time-consuming but was worth it. The clogged injectors (2 of them)...
