could be that you dont feel the engagement at higher gears, due to the ratios.

Re: New to driving stick
Thanks. I probably am too paranoid. Went out again practicing and I think I got my launches down pat. Im nailing each at around 1.5-1.7 RPM, quickly releasing clutch with minimal slipping and my shifting to 2nd gear is better. I think im improving. :D some will say 1.5-1.7k is too high, i see...

Re: New to driving stick
you have new car syndrome.
your so paranoid about the immaculate condition of your car you start getting reluctant to even use it.
you'll get over it.

Re: Proper way to park?
....or you wait until the turbo timer shuts off the engine first before getting out of the car. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of having a turbo timer in the first place. BTW, my current car will pump the coolant through the turbocharger housing after the engine is shut down. This is automat...

Re: New to driving stick
^thats fine. Wouldn't do that on a downhill turn but, as you start to regain momentum once you stop braking.

Re: New to driving stick
only reason i state heel-toe is the only option is before i brake, im obviously travelling at road speed 50-60kph(30-35 mph?). thats 5-6000 rpm in 2nd gear. shifting into 2nd gear BEFORE i brake would cause exessive noise and require a trememndous blip. braking, and then downshifting during corner ...

Re: New to driving stick
Wow, you cruise at 1500? Im cruising usually at like 2.5  Im guessing you have an Audi? So are you using 6th gear often and going through turns at mostly 3rd? Yeah, I have an Audi A5 and it makes a lot of low-end torque (it has the turbo engine), so I can cruise all day at 1500 rpm without a p...

Re: new here, couple of questions
all i can say is i feel sorry for you that you have an e-throttle All new cars have electronic throttles. I don't think there are any cars made now with cables.... That said, an electronic throttle isn't necessarily a bad thing. Probably the biggest complaint people have with electronic throttles i...

Re: New to driving stick
Heel-toe is the only option for me, unless it's a side sweeping bend where I can afford to downshift into 3rd before I brake (less rpm for the terminal velocity before turn in) I cannot downshift into 2nd without rev matching at anything higher than walking pace unless I release the clutch so slowl...

Re: Proper way to park?
I have an abnormal way of parking, probably because of a habit I picked up from my turbo days... 1. Stop the car with brakes. 2. Shift to neutral, release clutch (if necessary). 3. Pull handbrake and release brakes. 4. Gather my things, turn down the radio, whatever. 5. Turn off car. 6. Shift to 1s...

Re: New to driving stick
Thanks! Well today I drow tih both my parents and they said the ride was smooth. I kept asking them and they said it was much better! :D I've been getting regular rev matches down too. I think I want to try practicing heel toe. One more thing: Im confused on how people just shift right into 2nd if ...

Re: New to driving stick
Very high revving? No, but it's a Honda/VTEC which are made to get their most torque at a high RPM. It's not like I go around town at 5RPM. Occassionally ill get it high before shifting. And I figured out my problem with the 1-2 shift. I wasn't getting to the gas quick enough. Now im shifting quick...

Re: New to driving stick
i wouldn't say the TSX is a very high revving car..rml605 wrote:lol yeah, just ot it almost 3 months ago, first stick car!potownrob wrote:uber jellyrml605 wrote:...I have a TSX...
It's not fast, but it's a VTEC so it's a high revving motor and a very fun car to drive. Great handling and good on gas.
