Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
I have to say, after over 90k combined miles, I'm pretty much over the turbocharged motor deal for a DD vehicle. It's just...not worth it to me as a consumer. It's more complex, it's less reliable (in my experience) and while it wasn't costly out of pocket for me, I think it certainly has a high pot...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Are you able to stroke your stick again with the Yota? I've been vaguely opening my eyes lately to see if AWD can be had with a stick. I'm still a ways off and am not in a hurry, but curiosity gets the best of me. The new Mazda3 can be had with AWD or a stick, but I haven't heard a definitive answe...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
The fact that the tailgate window on my yota fully lowers into the hatch is a huge boon. It's no Wrangler in terms of doors off top off, but I didn't wanna take a chance on FCA reliability, even if I did fit in it.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
There are a few of those TuRD Offroad packages running around here with knobby-ass tires. I really like the look of them. Yeah I like this turd. I haven't fully tested these tires, but the Terra Grapplers seem well liked when it comes to AT tires and many say traction is on par with KO2s and simila...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
So after a series of warranty events and a non-fixed issue common to the Fords, I got frustrated and sold it. Also, I just wanted to get into something different. So, I picked up a 2019 4Runner TRD Offroad with some goodies like the TRD wheels, rock sliders and a few other things. This thing heavily...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
I bought my GTO in November of 2009 or so and didn't have a winter car yet at that time. As I was shopping for a winter beater, I got caught in a about 2 inches of slush snow that froze as temps fell into the night. I drove home on a sheet of frozen snow. In a 400hp 400/torque RWD car with summer ti...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
I suspect there is a lot of integrity to the roof of a bus. School bus roofs are extremely strong because they're designed to survive rollovers. That also means it can/will survive me putting a roof deck and some solar panels on it. Does that apply to school buses only with the intent to kill the o...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
A mid-length full size chassis bus. Under no circumstances do I want a cutaway van short bus, and I dont really want to deal with moving or storing a full 35-40' bus either. I can easily hook a trailer up to a medium sized bus if I do need to bring more stuff, but I doubt that would be a necessity....

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Watkins, what kind of bus do you realistically have in mind size-wise? For me, 10k buys a lot of travel trailer I can haul. Hmm...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
The desire to buy an old school bus and make a camper out of it is strong right now I've been looking at old pop-ups on CL. Checked out a couple in the 2-2.5k range. That's probably going to be my next move to get one of these and use as base camp when we go camping. Much easier with two dogs than ...

Re: *New Language, Context, & Attitude (Now in Effect)*
To be honest, I've pulled away from Facebox and tend to prefer meatspace over cyberspace. I used to be a heavy user of Edmund's CarSpace forum, but pulled back from that. I was never much into Instagram, Snap Cat and Twitter. It's been nice to get away from the boring, overly political crap. In lie...

Re: *New Language, Context, & Attitude (Now in Effect)*
I have no idea why I was reading this thread at nearly 11 in the evening, but the first page of this brought back memories of this place long ago, before social media became the default replacement for forums by creating groups and thus nearly killing this place. I'm surprised the 5 people that post...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
A modern hydraulic clutch has no feel anyway, so that's easy enough. Maybe they could use force-feedback technology from arcade game joysticks to transmit synchronizer feel...hmm... Can't really agree with that. In my opinion, a hydraulic clutch usually has far less effort, but not really less feel...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
The Supra surprisingly doesn't do much for me, although I am a fan of the car from 20+ years ago. The pictures leave me with a lukewarm impression from the first few glances, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. The interior seems to be certainly uninspired. It just looks like the standard conser...
