I lost but it was a pretty fun race. I was coming back from Five Guys tonight with my dinner and at the first light a 1998-2002 Trans Am pulled up next to me and started revving his engine. Now I normally don't race, like I haven't had a real street race in 6 months at least, but I said what the hell and did it anyways. I knew from the beginning that I was going to lose bad, especially since we were facing uphill, that would definitely give the Trans Am a big advantage with all its power.

I also f**k up the launch. I seemingly *forgot* we were going uphill so I only revved a small amount (maybe 2500) and I let the clutch out too fast and the car bogged for a second. By 60 he had like 3-4 carlengths on me, so it wasn't that bad a loss. I fully expected him to get like 6-8 lengths on me, I used to have that car (well the badge-engineered fraternal twin of it) and I remember how fast it was.

I caught him, did the ever-so-popular ricer flyby, and proceeded to try and outrun him in the twisties (this road is crazy it starts out straight then it has a shitton of curves). He actually stayed with me pretty well. I didn't push it even close to 100% because that road's not banked very well and I didn't want to die tonight.


Its not that bad considering I could barely shift. My clutch was having trouble disengaging and my transmission wasn't warm yet, so 3rd gear synchro didn't want to work.

It was fun though .

Those trans am are stupid quick.
I was in kennesaw a few days ago to pick up some suspension parts from a mustang store. I was surprised, it's a muscle car oriented neighborhood from what i saw, especially mustangs.

Yeah a couple of my friends here at KSU have muscle cars. One has a '69 Nova with a 350 in it and straightpipes, and the other has a Dodge Challenger (don't remember the year). Both slushboxes but they're still cool cars. Also just driving around here I see lots of newer Camaros, Mustangs, Firebirds, etc, at least as much or more than I see imports.

Ugh the clutch problems I was having that night have gotten worse, and bleeding the hydraulics didn't help. I guess its time for a new clutch master and/or slave cylinder .

damn, bloody old school cars get a ls7 in there along with that 6 speed transmission kit... nice new parts ftw!

lol my car was just 19 last year....hell my '86 Fiero was 19 years old when I got it.

I don't count a car as being old unless its over 25 years old, that's the point where the state of Georgia recognizes it as an antique and it doesn't need emissions anymore.

I used to think my cars were old until I attended a few car shows where they were lumped in the 86-present category. Yeah they're old but not compared to 70's, 60's, and 50's cars.
