Its column shifter isn't difficult or muddy, but the indicator's gauge face is twisted so the needle points at a different selection than it's really in. No problem, I know it by feel. Speaking of feel, it has a really awesome feeling that I've never felt in another column shifter and makes me not want to mess with the car's transmission ever.

Some old car I got from Google Images, for another thin column shifter:

LOL I love how the gas gauge is huge . The dash in my friend's '84 Park Avenue is very similar to that one, I believe the only difference is different colored gauge faces.

While we're on the topic of huge gauges:

Kidding, kidding... out of the car, the interior of the MINI is probably my least favourite bit of the car (the toggle switches are cool, as are the retro/chrome bits, but the speedometer's just a bit too big, making it look like a caricature). Comfortable, though, with a good driving position and well placed pedals... and it looks cool at night.

Favourite interiors?

Love the LCD gauges, and the wood surround all the way around the cabin. Plus, even though I mourn the lack of a stick, the "Jaguar Drive Select" control is pretty damn cool. I'd take this over an S-class, 7-series, or A8 any day.

To be fair, the XF's is pretty sweet too, what with the rotating vents and all:

Wouldn't call it one of my favourites (the XJ's looks more intimate, IMO) but it's pretty nice.

I used to like that sort of idea. I figured the existing PRND321 interfaces (console and column) are outdated. However, the Lexus SUV debacle has made me re-think that attitude, for the same reason I no longer think the start/stop button is a good idea. The classic interface is consistent and is what people expect, and in an emergency consistency is ultra-important.

Camaro's tradition is cheap speed, not nice interiors. When I was a child and the third gen was out, the newspaper compiled a list of cars sorted by price per MPH. A Camaro was the number one car, providing 155mph for less than other cars could offer 130mph.

The fifth gen is a major improvement in all areas, but the priority is still cheap speed...though no longer as strong of a priority. A V8-capable big RWD pony/muscle car probably can no longer be number one for price per MPH against FWD sport compacts, and the top-end MPH scale has gone way up so it doesn't matter anymore anyway.

I found this as an example in a Wikipedia article about dangerous interiors that blind the driver with reflected glare...

Shifter and handbrake look like they'd burn your hand if you parked in the sun.
