Looking at a CTS-V.... some questions
Well, the Cobalt has been treating me well, but I'm starving for something with a bit more power. I've found a really nice CTS-V that's about 3 hours away from me, and it's a damned good price.
This is the car in question:
http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z223410640
I've spoken with the owner a bit, he has the service history available, he's the second owner and is selling for financial reasons. He's going to send me the VIN hopefully today so I can run a Carfax. The price is negotiable as well (remember these are Canadian dollars/market, CTS-V is 72k new here).
What are your thoughts on this car? 400hp is hard to say no to.. but they have known rear differential problems (though it's been theorized it's more due to the drivers than the differential itself). This will be an all season car (obv winter tires in the winter), and I don't put a lot of km on (maybe 10-15k a year). According to the owner it is up to date with all service bulletins and recalls.
I won't have a problem affording the car, but I don't want to be shelling out tons of $$ for repairs.. I typically drive my car pretty easily (+ some spirited driving occasionally). I'm interested to see what everyone thinks of this one..

Get a trusted mechanic to check it out, or if not call your provincial CAA branch for a mobile vehicle inspection, $140 is a small price to pay to see what you're getting into... I haven't heard of many problems with that car and that price is truly irresistible. If all checks out, go for it. She's a beaut!

Re: Looking at a CTS-V.... some questions
Update: Going to see/test the car this Tuesday evening (3 HOUR DRIVE ). If all goes well.. I will be driving it home.
Carfax and service history came back good
Pre-purchase inspection = done
I'll have my insurance card for the car tomorrow (before I go down)
Everything looks good, can anyone think of anything else I'd need to check?

Re: Looking at a CTS-V.... some questions
Unfortunately not me! The car actually went to a buddy of mine who was interested as well. I have mixed feelings about it, it was more than I wanted to pay for a used car, but the deal was out of this world. I still get to drive in it though
I've consoled myself with an 03 Mustang GT . Previous owner was my brother in law, and it has been babied. Got it for a sweet deal considering the condition, just 10k.
82,000 KM (not miles)
Short shifter
Cold air intake
New Falken tires (not sure of model) on the stock 17'' wheels
Leather in great shape
DVD/CD/MP3 JVC deck with a 12'' MTX sub and an 800 watt Sony Xplod Amp
Never seen winter (stored in a heated garage)
Pics will be up once I get the wash/claybar/wax done!

You need an exhaust on a 4.6 mod motor. It's sacrelige to not have one.

The only question is Magnaflows or Flowmasters . Appears to be quite the debate about it on the mustang forums.

Yanno, instead of running Nitrous, I bet you could rig up a washer fluid pump to squirt Flonase in there an get your exhaust decongested.nothfx wrote:The only question is Magnaflows or Flowmasters . Appears to be quite the debate about it on the mustang forums.

Put on some Magnaflowmasters! Solves everything.
The tricky part is getting those Magnaflows and Flowmasters to breed...
