I was going to say, if that's true your gearing sucks burrow spheres.Squint wrote:Why yes, yes I did mean 3200-3300. Silly sinus infection-brain hasn't been working quite right all day.Shadow wrote:Squint wrote:Fiesta: 3000 RPM - 5th gear = ~65 mph.
70 mph is around 7200-7300 RPM if memory serves.
That's gotta be a typo, no? Did you mean 3200-3300 RPM?
The other thread, I figured out that 3000 RPM is 68 mph according to ratios.

Fine, just for you guys, I will drive at 80-85MPH to confirm my speed at 3,000 RPM.
"Sir, you were caught driving 132km/h in a 100 zone, what's your explanation?" "I was confirming my speed at 3,000 RPM in 6th gear for the guys at standardshift.com." "Ok, drive safe and carry on."

I think 3k was 90ish in my 03 Accord, but I could very well be mistaken. At 60 it was 2k.

Automatic? The 2014 Mazda 6 revs at 1,800 RPM @ 60 MPH. Crazy.

Yup. It had the 2.4 litre 4 cylinder engine and a 5 speed automatic.I thought the car would be really sluggish since it had a 4 cylinder engine and was fairly hefty 3060 pounds (when I was young I always thought anything above compact required a 6 cylinder engine and was blown away to learn that 4 cylinder engines could be found in midsizers and small SUVs and trucks).DKaz wrote:Automatic? With 160hp and 161 torques it got itself moving fairly easily. Granted I don't have any very fast cars to compare it to since the most powerful car I've driven was my friend's mustang at 250 stock hp and it was fairly heavy.

Hmm....only 5 mph off from my car. I think those Germans love to build cars that cruise the autobahns at a "cruising" rpm. I actually love my gearing. It works well for low-rpm cruising at highway speeds, but still allows for excellent passing power since the engine has a wide torque band that starts very low in the rev range.

Re: Post your speed in top gear at 3000 RPM
Agreed. I miss the turbospanked low end of my last car, but the ZHP does wake up nicely in the higher gears above 3,000rpms. She feels plenty maneuverable on the highway.

Tin, I'm assuming that is MPH in the boxes?
