2014 Honda Civic mid-cycle refresh

Post by Boston Fit »

After bungling the 2012 Civic and performing an unusual "emergency refresh" on the 2013 model, it seems Honda has a few more improvements in store for 2014. Here's how the Civic Si Coupe will apparently look. No word yet on whether the Si Sedan or other Civic trim levels will change. Those details will be announced at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas on November 5.

I think I saw a 2014 civic (can't go to the article at work) driving the other day. Very different back end than what I've seen before though the front half of the car looked more... civic-like.

My guess is that you saw a 2013 model since the 2014 has not been released yet. Did it look like the car on the right in this photo?

All I can say is that the 2013 definitely looks less frumpy than the 2012, the trunk is a bit less droopy.

Is there a reason both of those plates are the same?

Good question about the license plates; I don't know why they are the same.

It makes sense that the Civic Coupe is finally getting a facelift because the 2013 model-year "emergency refresh" that I mentioned earlier resulted in updates to the Sedan's exterior while leaving the Coupe's exterior largely unchanged.

However, it seems that the Sedan will also undergo some changes based on the following excerpt from Kelley Blue Book, quoting Honda America's EVP of Sales: "all Civics, including the Si Sedan, will get 'significant upgrades that will make them even more fun-to-drive.'"

Can't see the pic here at work as it won't load. I'll have to check later.

It seems like Honda may be holding back some details until the L.A. Auto Show, but the '14 Civic Coupe is getting some cosmetic changes along with 1" bigger wheels and a negligible 4-hp bump in power in the Si. I'm not crazy about the new look, but I guess I wasn't crazy about the old one either. (Does the rear passenger window remind anyone else of a Mustang?)

Not a fan of the side or 3/4 rear view. The slope in the rear glass - something off about it. Too long, it seems and the cabin seems to look too far forward.

It was a 2013 Civic that I saw. And my first impression is that I'm not a huge fan of the 2014 models as shown in your link, Boston Fit. Not bad, just not my favorite.

True statement. It's only a first impression - judgement reserved completely until doing a walk around one.

Since I took French in college, I did chuckle when I read his statement.
