2015 Mustang v 2015 Subaru WRX
Base model on both.... not Mustang GT... not Subaru WRX Sti....
Which is ultimately the car that I'll have more fun driving equipped with a Stick Shift....
I'm contemplating trading the '04 Mazda 3 for 1 of these.....
I know the aforementioned new cars are 2 completely different animals...... but that's what I have narrowed my choices down to:

Re: 2015 Mustang v 2015 Subaru WRX
Buy the WRX.
Because I'm willing to bet money that if you buy the Mustang (either the V6 or the turbo 4) that somewhere, deep in your soul you will always, always wish that you'd gotten the V8. I don't care who you are and I don't care that you may deny it now. But you'll wish you bought the V8. Doesn't mean you're going to hate the others, but you'll always know that you've left a lot on the table back in that showroom.

Really the only way to know is to test drive them and see.
If you can get a Ecoboost Mustang for cheap ($25k), it certainly isn't a slouch. You can hit mid 12s with just a plug in tune and DRs. Thats on par / a little faster than a stock 5.0.
Keep in mind the 5.0 has a much higher ceiling, but if you only want to do bolt-ons the ecoboost may suit you.

Pretty insane if you ask me.

where do you live, OP?? you could potentially get the subaru and ditch both the mazda and the jeep you have. i wish (for your sake at least) the more powerful foresters, legacies and outbacks were offered with the manny tranny. that said, i dig the mustang way more than the wrx.

Yea, try both but I'd say go for the Subie if if it's close since if you got the Mustang you'd wish you had a V8.
Part of why I chose the FoST over the Mustang from Fords stable, I knew I'd always be wishing I had the V8.

Fair comment. You're probably right. Nothing like the 5.0 GT V8 rumble. I would say tho, in that case I would have to consider the STI..... but, bottom line..... it's how deep I can dig in my pocket and I don't want to look at top of the line for both of these cars..... but you have a great point, no doubt.AHTOXA wrote:Buy the WRX.

I test drove the prior model stang.... oh man..... it's sweet.ColJessip wrote:Really the only way to know is to test drive them and see.

Subaru is a pain in the neck trying to convince them for me to test drive the wrx in stick.... they want me to test drive the auto..... how stupid is that? They're pissing me off....
I don't think I would venture to mod any of these cars (for now).

Re: 2015 Mustang v 2015 Subaru WRX
I live in the metro NYC. Well, I wanna keep the trck for space and a 2nd occasional driver. I dont think I would buy the foresters, legacies or outbacks in manual tho.potownrob wrote:where do you live, OP?? you could potentially get the subaru and ditch both the mazda and the jeep you have. i wish (for your sake at least) the more powerful foresters, legacies and outbacks were offered with the manny tranny. that said, i dig the mustang way more than the wrx.
The stang does have a presence, heritage, inexpensive price tag (base) and all that other godd stuff.... this will be a tough decision.

Re: 2015 Mustang v 2015 Subaru WRX
Since the Mustang won't be a Mustang without the 5.0, go with the WRX. However, if I was in your shoes, I'd save up a little more and get the 5.0. A little biased, I know, I have an affinity towards muscle cars, but still. V8, RWD, stick. Can't get any better.

Yeah, this is true, too.six wrote:Since the Mustang won't be a Mustang without the 5.0, go with the WRX. However, if I was in your shoes, I'd save up a little more and get the 5.0. A little biased, I know, I have an affinity towards muscle cars, but still. V8, RWD, stick. Can't get any better.
If the Mustang is the car that you want and the WRX is maybe more of a compromise - save more and get the Mustang V8. If the WRX is more of the car that you want, then get the WRX and don't look back.
For me, this would be a hard choice. I'd probably buy neither of them. I'd be leaning towards Focus ST or Fiesta ST.
