Re: Updated Nav Bar
It could just be an image map like the current one, no web2.0 worries here. I think it looks fantastic.

Re: Updated Nav Bar
Seconded. And the mixing of the Helvetica Ulta Light and Lucida Grande looks icky. (Mixing sans serfs like that rarely works well btw.)paul34 wrote:It would require a retool of the rest of the site, but I think overall it looks decent without being over the top. The look of the site is rather basic anyway, possibly could use a little color - but really, I've gotten used to and comfortable with the way the site looks. Although I'm not feeling the "motion blur" shift knob although I understand what it is trying to convey.

I like the overall look but also do not like the blurry shift knob.

Re: Updated Nav Bar
Another vote against the blurred knob.
How about indicating motion with a ratcheted/staggered/trailed (or whatever it's called) image of the knob? Like if you enable Mouse Trails in Windows, or like combining a few photo frames where the background is the same but the subject has moved.
I can visualize it, I can't create it, and I don't know what it's called.

Re: Updated Nav Bar
That's what blurring is XD. Just more rapid and numerous. I could make it blur the way you're talking about, but I tried it and you couldn't tell what it was anymore.theholycow wrote: How about indicating motion with a ratcheted/staggered/trailed (or whatever it's called) image of the knob? I will make a new one with the fonts fixed and they layout tweaked.

Re: Updated Nav Bar
This effect is close but not quite exactly what I was talking about:
I don't know exactly how it differs from what I visualized earlier, but I know it's a little different.

I don't know what "Hyööörrrrggh!!" means or even how to pronounce it, but it seems like something that may be full of win.Tups wrote:Animation? In the navigation bar!? Hyööörrrrggh!!
