Neither do I, but I think it's a combination of Scandinavian black metal growl and someone speaking Norwegian to a big porcelain phone after a hard night out...

Anyway, I guess you got the point.

It's not perfect, but what is? You've got talent.

Having a single image floating in the middle of the screen is so tacky imo.

Have a look at http://forums.performancecar.co.nz/ how they integrate the ad with header which makes the ad take less space and give a nice full width header. just need some logo to put on the left of the ads.

The problem here is we have ad layer, header layer then the forums.... what a waste of vertical screen estate.

+1
Why waste time clicking through from the homepage to the index?
It's not like the homepage has been updated since like 2007.

I use the search link. It's different than the one below it; the search link in navbar.gif is linked to a Google search of SS, the other search link is the forum software's built-in search.

I don't use the other links, but I have to believe that noobs do.

I go directly to the "View your posts" link, which I have bookmarked. It's the closest thing to a vBulletin-style thread subscription page.

I navigate directly to 'View New Posts' when I arrive here, but also agree that the links should remain for those that haven't fully assimilated yet :P

I've been meaning to update the nav bar design based on you all's suggestions. When I'm done with it, I will put the new design right...

...here:

OK it's done. I removed the text for the links because I think there is a better way to handle that than to put it on that image. Also, I reduced the blurriness of the shift knob (it still needed a little). And I changed the blue to match the forum a little more closely.

if anyone can find me a high quality video of either pedals (doubleclutch heel toe w/e) or quick shifting (view of gearstick) i can make an animated version.

thought i'd throw one in there if anyone's serious about changing it.

Very nice, I like the Italian supercar shifter pic. But it still has the problem plaguing the current bar, which is the kinda erratic placement of links. That's why I left the links text off of my latest revision.
