Reporting spam: One, or all?

Post by theholycow »

Usually when there is one spam post, there are a bunch from the same spammer. When I report spam using the Image button, is it easier for the moderator if I only report one of the posts or all? I don't want to annoy anyone with a million reports that probably come in email, but I do want to make it a simple matter of clicking the link in the report and deleting the offending post/user.

Well, having been on the other end of it, I've found that it depends on the forum software.

If it's equipped with a "delete post as spam" function then you delete one post and it prompts you to delete all the others and ban the user.

If it's not then you have to do a search for the user's posts. In that case, having a bunch of links would be more convenient; just click click click and they open in tabs.

Reporting one works most of the time. Looks like it was time to tweak registration again with the uptick in spam posts.

Ok, in that case I'll stop reporting them all.
