Re: Let the updates commence...
Just replying regarding why everything is shoved to the right on most sites nowadays...
As the attention span of humans gets ever shorter, the idea is give the main content immediately versus nav and meta options first.

I'll probably either be switching the theme completely or at least styling the base theme to be a bit flatter, may flip poster info. back to left just because. Wish I had April 1 to work with...

I don't like the user info on the right side either... I'm on another forum that does that too. Other than that, it looks like other forums I am on, so I know where to find everything.

Tristan has been gone too long and noticed the new website. He was very confused at first, but thinks he can get used to this.

i can see the avatar out of the side of my eye, so if theres an image loaded (aka if work computer allowes the image to be loaded) i know who is typingSquint wrote:I use a combo of quick glance at the avatar plus the person's signature to notice who is posting without actually looking at the name.watkins wrote:Oh god no!
I liked the simplicity of the old design. It was just easy to use.
I definitely dont like the user info on the right. I could probably live with the rest of it if not for that. We read from left to right. I like to see who is making a post before reading the post. Reading the right side then going back to the left is weird. I know the user info is at the top of the post as well, but I identify people by their avatar pictures more often than not.
SS did say theme improvements were still coming, perhaps things might change again. Though user info on the right is apparently best practice now...?

Yup, I've pretty quickly gotten used to the right-side avatar/profile stuff (like you said, when it loads on the work computers).wannabe wrote:i can see the avatar out of the side of my eye, so if theres an image loaded (aka if work computer allowes the image to be loaded) i know who is typing
We're just all old crotchety folks stuck in our ways. Change is bad! In the good ol' days...
