I've always found having a dedicated mIRC channel works well for websites.. Something easier about leaving irc open while you do other things, rather than having a web browser with a java applet running. We had both (Java chat and irc) on the underground music community site I ran for a few years, and the irc room always had more people in it. I'd definately hang around for car chat if we had one up

bad idea i think. A shoutbox takes away alot of activity that forum would get it. People asking questions in the box would get annoying (trust me i have a site with a shoutbox) and the members get kind of rude when the questions keep coming up interrupting there shoutbox experience. This forum is nice because your not forced to look @ questions and you can answer the ones you like instead of getting forced to read them in a shoutbox. Well, i usually answer the ones i know, so hehe

I agree with S4rge. I think having a chatroom would detract people from the actual threads. Even the simple questions add to the archive of information inexperienced standardshifters can access, and a chatroom would diminish that.
