Revising the Standardshift.com logo

Post by Standardshifter »

Greetings Standardshifters!

As we work on new software and features behind the scenes, like to open up getting a revised logo for Standardshift to everybody.

Like to keep close to the current theme of stylized shifter(s).

Some variations out there include:

Would like a two color design vector-based design that scales well from site logo all the way up to t-shirt size. Variations off this basic design can be incorporated, but are optional.

Winning design will be awarded a standardshift.com care package. The contents are TBA.

Do you want just a logo, or would an entire banner image be prefferable?

Alright, I did up a quick idea. By no means is this the best I can do, but it got the juices flowing.

Still not done. I want to include ".com" somewhere, and possibly the slogan in the big empty under "Standard."

That in fact was my problem. Hence the SS instead of a gear pattern.

I'm working on one. I should have it done in 3-4 days. (busy, busy, busy...)

EDIT: (It might wind up looking like shit, but I'm seriously trying.)

just kidding. Good luck to everyone! It's going to be great seeing SS get a nice makeover :)
I spose it will depend on whoever makes it. I know I'd model it after the 300ZX shift pattern (a shame its the same as my mustang. lol)

Thanks.

Alright, I had the 10 minutes to finish. Not sure I like having the slogan there. Or thats just because its black. I think sticking with color X outlined in black might be best.

Hey yo. So i finally started working on this little project here. I've got drawings to verctorize, mostly involving the proposed idea of using a shifter, or shifter pattern as a universal symbol. But vectorizing drawings takes forever. (And if anyone mentions live trace or live paint i will find a way to reach thru the computer to hit them. Those shortcuts are more trouble than their worth.) So i starting playing around with doing some custom lettering for the logo, since this site after all is mostly driven by words, and not a image for the logo. I'm not happy with this yet for reasons i won't list yet so not to mar initial responses, but i like the concept.

All thoughts, comments, praise and scathing insults are welcomed.

And i do realize the double yellow lines, unlike skid marks, are an american thing and this is a reasonably international site...so sue me.

Here is something that is running through my mind.

Image

It is a bit unusual (7-speed shifter) but I feel that's what gives it its pop. You can tell it's a shifter, but it's not a conventional one, and still conveys the name of SS. Nice and simple, black and white minimalistic feel.
