Not a bad concept. However, it surprises me the number of standards that I find in my school parking lot at any given day. I would be interested in a poll that showed the percentage of people that know how to drive a manual, and then maybe a percentage of people that actually do.

Most of the standards I find when walking through the student parking lot are old beaters or base-model economy cars. Only a few luxo-sports-cars with manuals. Even there I'm starting to see more automatics and dual clutch transmissions. :?

Ass for the security by scarcity, sometimes you have bad enough luck to run into idiots like this:

I don't know why he waited around while they tried to take his car though. If someone has a gun, you can have my car. I'd be outta there ASAP. I value my life way more.

Now I must always wonder if some SSer is reading my autoblog comments.
This sounds so much like you:
Manual transmission gives you a lot of freedom. They will never go to end. They are cheaper, easier to handle, to feel the car.
Automatic one on sport cars is for moneybags, who are not able learn to drive, but want to boast of their power.
EDIT: Never mind, I found yours
Burnt clutch - user error

Breaking down - a function of the motor, not the transmission.

That's why I love my door locks. You cant jimmy them open with a slimjim. The lock isn't designed that way.

There was a similar incident around here, except that the embarrassed criminal got so angry at the poor guy that he shot him in the face. Stupid idiots, scum of the earth.

Carjackers should be drowned in the sea after conviction.
Wow, you seem like a nice person  .

I'm "Mike P." on Autoblog. And Engadget, except that the quality of their posts has dropped the past year or two.

We should have a little "SS.com" badge in a corner of our AB avatars... like a secret club.

A vibrator will get your girlfriend or wife off much more quickly and efficiently? Why not just use one 100% of the time, and stop having sex?

That's what a tire iron is for... No windows, no locks, no problems.
