More pics here!
With a mild .8 bar (just under 12 psi) of boost, the engine is rated at an even 500 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque (the outgoing 3.6-liter engine produced 480 horsepower with nearly 15 psi of boost... and weighs 55 pounds more).
Sporting a new 500-horsepower engine mated to the automaker's lightning-fast dual-clutch PDK transmission, the all-wheel drive coupe devours the magic 0-60 mph benchmark in less than 3.2 seconds.
Under the rear decklid of the new model is an all-new completely modern 3.8-liter water-cooled flat-six sharing architecture with the 3.8-liter normally-aspirated engine found in the current Carrera S.
However impressed we were with the dual-clutch PDK, it was the three-pedals-on-the-floor model that won us over. As an enthusiast, there is something intimate – a close camaraderie with the vehicle – when you rest your hand on the manual transmission lever of such fine machinery. With all four limbs actively participating in the rhythmic dance of driving, the brain becomes another important cog within the machine. A flawlessly executed downshift feels great in a Honda Civic, but downright masterful in a 500-horsepower turbocharged Porsche.
I'm in love. The only problem: MSRP $132,800. How depressing is it to think I'll probably never be able to afford this?

Yikes, that can't all be from taxes, right? Import fees, taxes, ... what else?

That was a Johnny Lieberman article, yes? Or was it Chris Paukert? It had to be one of the big guns. Chris is one of the smartest and most insightful automotive journalists out there today. And he drives a Viggen, by the way. Just sayin'.

Well, in this case "slightly more expensive" is actually $33k more expensive for coupe and $25k for roadster, so... Anyway, still it's pretty close considering the performance difference. Roughly half of the price is tax.

For the record the old 911 Turbo with a manual transmission costs $370k around here.

That is brutal. I've thought about the possibility of living in Europe for a while when I'm older (probably Germany or Austria or something, but who knows--need money and a job opportunity there first), but I would definitely have to get the driving bug out of my system before I do so. Buying and driving cars there is so expensive. If I somehow strike it rich, though, I guess that wouldn't really be a problem :P .

I want to at least rent a Porsche from RUF one time and drive it down the autobahn or maybe even the Ring if possible.

How much does this thing weigh? I think it was the Dodge Viper that once had 500 hp as well, and this one is faster than that?

Warner, it's just Finland. We have a special tax, a certain percentage of car's tax-free price now based on the CO2 emissions. With powerful sports cars it's nearly 100% as their emissions are greater. In most European countries there is no such taxes.

As for the cost of owning and driving a car... well, both are a bit more expensive than in the States, but still most people can afford owning a car and even driving it every now and then. That includes me here in Finland, the country in which owning a car is almost illegal. Cars in Europe are also generally smaller and more fuel-efficient (you can get a normal Golf with a smaller engine than 2.5 liters), and while a 50-mile commute from the suburbs to the workplace would be considered normal in America, here it would be epic as it would mean that you lived in another city.

Don't throw away your dreams about living in Europe :)

It's easy to compare car to sex, but has anyone ever tried to do it the other way around, i.e. compare sex to car. I wonder what a girl would say if you told her that last night she was almost as good as driving, say, a mid-80s Corolla?
