"Bad Valet"
Just posted on FOX news... Summary: AAA Valet company at the Hyatt in St. Louis drifting, burning out, and racing customers' cars around the hotel parking garage.
I understand the temptation, but that's just disrespectful of other people's property... Oh well.

Fortunately we don't have valet parking in Finland.
In one of Clive Cussler's books the main protagonist wrote down the numbers in the odometer so that the valet boy wouldn't take his classic car for a spin.

What if you arrive at your sister's wedding and find out that valet parking is required?

Re: "Bad Valet"
I've valeted (sp???) my car once in my entire life. It turned out okay, but the idea of a stranger driving my car away to some distant place I can't see to park it within inches of other cars... doesn't sit well with me. Things like the valets in the video just puts me off even more.
There have been times I've come to events up in San Francisco that only had valet. I actually went out of my way, and paid to park in a city garage, and walked seven blocks. Peace of mind... This was when I still had the MS6, so now you understand why... It's one of those cars "in the middle," that have lots of power and "it" factor, but not "quite there" in terms of luxury or exoticness to where the valet would get in deep doodoo if found to have done such as the video.

If I'm walking 7 blocks, I would just park in Sunset and take the MUNI. But you're right. We're born with a pair of legs and we are supposed to use them.six wrote: There have been times I've come to events up in San Francisco that only had valet. If there's anyone objecting to this union (valet and tC), speak now or forever hold your peace.paul34 wrote:I've been to places exactly like that (except cousin's engagement) where valet parking was the only option. Dude:
1) Ground into first gear
2) Stalled
3) Went rolling quickly backwards down the hill
4) Did a REAAALLLLY high, slow RPM launch to go back up the hill
5) Totally botched and bucked the 1-2 shift
nothing I could do =(

Re: "Bad Valet"
I wouldn't fall for that "valet only" thing. You worked valet - you should know. I remember when I worked valet at "valet only" places, I would let people park their own cars for a fee. This is a win-win for me. Depending on the place it was at, starting at $20 I would let them park their own car. This means a number of things to me. First, I don't have to give them the ticket, which keeps the car "off the books" so I don't pay part of my proceeds to the owner - like the parking fee for example. I surely get to keep the whole amount - and $20 is good. Also, I don't have to fetch his car when he comes out, which means I can get other cars, thus maximizing my tip because he already gave me mine.paul34 wrote:I've been to places exactly like that (except cousin's engagement) where valet parking was the only option.
