Re: GM to wind down Saab; sale to Spyker fails
As the newer and generally less-durable models die because of electronics failing etc., the roads will once again be dominated by 90s, 96s and 900s... :)
Anyway, I guess one of the reasons that finally killed Saab was its inability to produce smaller and more fuel-efficient cars. No company can life off such cars alone in these days.

I'm crying on the inside.
And on the outside.
And in between.
But I'm so glad I got into the game when I did. So long, friend!

There is still a glimmer of hope, however dim it may be.

As DavidMorgan posted on SaabCentral:
I think we should pay attention to these last comments:
"it should be noted from the conference call that they are still willing to listen to an investor who comes up with the right deal.
I can tell you that there's at least one and possibly two of those out there. What it's going to take to strike up 'the right deal' is unknown.
GM also said that in the wind-down, that various assets such as the 9-5 and 9-4x would be available should someone want to take them up. A re-start is possible.
Not wanting to get anyone's hopes up, but these are the doors that are open if the right person/group can walk through them."

Good job GM. When they killed Saturn, I didn't care. When they killed Pontiac, I was dissapointed, because Pontiac made some exciting cars back in the day (Firebird!) But now I am sad, because SAAB was one of the few brands with personality, the only "GM product" I would ever consider buying.

Always sad to see a good brand fall.
Jalopnik had a few tribute posts I thought you all may like.

Seven cars that sank Saab: http://jalopnik.com/5429758/the-seven-c ... lled-saab/
I myself like the 900 turbos and of course the Turbo X berzerko model.

Im amazed to not see the 9000 on the best list. Those really are the pinnacle of Swedish luxury motoring.

Re: GM to wind down Saab; sale to Spyker fails
Although I have never driven a Saab, I've heard great things about them from members here and from my friend(owned 4 and loved every single one) and my cousin who has one. This sucks because I liked the body style and I could always tell them apart from a lot of other cars on the road.
