Let me clarify. The shift timing feels a lot more natural. The RPMs fall very fast compared with the Rabbit. Even through the LS2 is a DBW, it does not carry the bad habits that most cars equipped with DBW have. To me, this matches with my personal shift timing - I suppose you can call it that.

Ok, I get it.

I've asked often on GM forums and people say that GM does a good job on DBW, never any rev hang or throttle lag.

AHTOXA wrote:The GTO is surprisingly easy to drive. With all the torque you are much less likely to stall and shifting feels a lot more natural than my VW did.
With a clutch like a light switch and a nervous driver in heavy Florida traffic trying to get that beast home with no experience driving a manual... Not so fun.

Now he drives it like he was born driving it.

GTO clutch is not a light switch. It's not sloppy by any means, though and it's quite light.

It may the the cold or whatever I've got going on but I'm not sure what you mean.

The teg's clutch is stiffer than the Goat's, yet the throttle pedal is more sensitive. The goat's throttle feels stiff and seems to have more resistance. I get all confused for the first few seconds of the drive between the two.

Wow, I don't come in here often enough. (twhs)

I wouldn't buy that car. I'd buy a used one from when they were more prevalent. Or I'll still be driving the Alfa.

You know what I mean.
But yes if they stopped selling cars with standards I would keep my current car for as long as possible and probably grab up another older car while I still could.
Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

Yes... Yes it does.

If they stop selling manuals, I'm going hunting for a couple old cars like a mad man and keeping my truck going as long as possible no matter what it takes. I really like my truck.

That's my plan.

If things are going to go south (as I am sure they will) I am going to have to stock up the driveway with a bunch of older cars before they all disappear.

Old cars rotting in the driveway is not a good plan for always having something decent to drive. Better to just have a couple and plan to always keep them perfectly maintained and perfectly repaired.

Those of us who really want to drive manual will always have someone willing to build and sell what we want. At worst it becomes a special custom thing rather than mass-produced.

I guess I can throw this here.

As for manuals, they'll still be made, but even if they are custom orders, I think I'll sign up. I can't see driving without that 3rd pedal.

I drive a 2L alfa that gets 15MPG if I'm good to it. Do they think I care if I get 2MPG less than the DSG version? It's a mother f*cking Ferrari! You don't buy one to be fuel efficient.

No, you buy a Ferrari to go 0-60 in less than 4 seconds rather than the 4.2 seconds that the manual version can do.
