Fiat 500

Post by Bill B »

The good news is that the Fiat 500 will only be available in the U.S. with a manual transmission. The bad news is that the Automatic is coming in several months. Article here if interested. http://www.torquenews.com/106/first-us- ... ssion-only

Is the photo in the article really what it's going to look like?

The cheapest Fiat 500 here (US$18,910) is almost as expensive as the most expensive model ($19,500) there :D

But why in the name of Zeus's butthole your 500 gets only 33 MPG in combined driving? That's not very good for a car as small as the 500 - while the EPA and EC1999/100 might give different results, I still doubt that if EPA tested the European 1.4-liter model, which gets 45 MPG in combined driving by our standards, it'd be that bad...

It's spelled "Brownie", but pronounced "Brown-Eye".

It looks like an Italian old man. Oh wait, it was designed in Italy. That figures.

I'd be interested to drive one (especially the Abarth version) but I don't think I could see myself buying one.
Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

The car looks a little funky to me…I wonder if there will be a performance version?

There is. It's called the Abarth. It has a turbocharged engine and some fancy suspension bits.
