Re: Turbo, or Not Turbo, That is the Question
This coming from a company who uses a rotary in a passenger car? And whose past couple of turbo engines have been so-so in terms of quality/performance characteristics? Hmmm...

You take that back! The MS3 is an awesome car and 263HP and 280ft-lb of torque from a turbo 2.3 is better than so so.

But power dies quickly up top stock, were issues with power output on less than 93 octane, and rods like to try and escape or try to limbo on a fair number of them.
Not necessarily bad, but not all that great either...

Re: Turbo, or Not Turbo, That is the Question
RX needs rotary because it is the right engine for the right car, whose top priority is to one of the best handling car with graceful moves. Lugging around a big heavy engine in the front is not going to make that happen. You can also do that by putting a big engine behind the driver's seat. But that introduces a lot of packaging issues.
Re: Turbo, or Not Turbo, That is the Question
It seems to me that small-displacement, turbocharged engines are making a big-time comeback. It's not just Ford doing it...
As much as I'm a V8 guy and love my torque and V8 rumble, I can appreciate a smaller forced induction engine in a relatively light weight car. My old Diamond Star was an absolute blast to drive.
