I remember seeing a late-night infomercial for this bike (or one just like it) several years ago. I thought it was junk then and I think it is junk now. The last thing I want is my bicycle shifting for me.

This is not the first automatic bicycle, and all previous attempts have been junk so far. I don't think it'll catch on.

There's many problems with automatic bicycles that have kept every one of them from catching on. Here's a few I can remember off the top of my head...
1. The human is the powerplant, so being in the wrong gear is so much more annoying/tiring/worthless than it is in a car.
2. Cost. The sort of person who is willing to spend a lot of money on a bicycle is the sort of person who wants to shift for his or her self.
3. Weight.
4. Mechanical issues, such as keeping it adjusted and lubricated and such.
