A performance cross car engine X-brace will cost $3,175. It consists of a single piece of carbon fiber with more than 30 layers. Attachment bushings are made from aerospace-grade stainless steel. Mopar says it saves a significant amount of weight over the standard production aluminum brace.

Other add-ons include carbon fiber and stainless steel engine covers ($880); bulkhead satchel, including a camera mount (TBD); wireless charging pad ($275); pedal kit ($255); billet shift knob ($163); door sill guards ($205); six-point safety harness (TBD); Katzkin leather interior (TBD); brake rotors ($1,445 front, $1,445 rear); headers ($3,495) and vehicle covers ($352).

All parts will be available at www.mopar.com when the new SRT Viper hits dealerships beginning in January.

"Mopar says it saves a significant amount of weight over the standard production aluminum brace."

It's a replacement part, for people who have more dollars than sense, who want to trim those last couple ounces on a 3,250 pound car but don't want to have to take a dump before they drive or leave their iPod at home.

Hmmm, what would you rather have... a fancy-schmancy carbon-fiber cross-brace that, no matter how much weight difference it states, couldn't possibly be more than a pound or two at most, or a complete brake-rotor upgrade for a couple hundred dollars less? Your decision.

I bet that billet shift knob takes a couple milliseconds off each shift.

It's just another way to get money out of people. I wouldn't buy that stuff.

I propose spending that money on hookers and blow. More entertainment per dollar

On the podium: The No. 91 SRTĀ® Viper GTS-R finishes third at Daytona
Image
The SRTĀ® Motorsports team made a successful return to the Rolex 24 at Daytona, as the No. 91 of Dominik Farnbacher, Marc Goossens and Ryan Hunter-Reay finished on the podium in the third position in the GT Le Mans class. The trio started on the pole for the twice around-the-clock event at the famed Daytona International Speedway and rebounded from a lengthy trip to the garage area during the overnight portion of the event to fix a broken power steering line.

They shudda bought the MOPAR billet power steering line!
