I think the Honda Element had dash manual shifter. Maybe Bill will be able to let us know on here if he sees this thread. I've driven more than a handful of automatic minivans that have dash controls though.

Shifting into or out of a gear is accomplished by shift lever motion in the x-z plane.

Selecting a gear plane is accomplished by shift lever motion in the y-z plane.

Same as if it was a floor-mounted shifter.

I think the Scion XB has a slanted dash shifter too? The later models anyway, right Squint?

Kind of. Here is an xB interior vs a Honda Element interior. They are almost like a hybrid between fully dash mounted and floor mounted since they seem to be attached to both.
