"Manual transmission is based on the BMW 1M and it’s 12 kg lighter than the gearbox found in previous E90 / E92 M3. It uses a twin blade clutch and upgraded oil system. If one orders the manual transmission instead of dual clutch gearbox, it will also save 25 kg (55 lbs). The new feature on the manual transmission, automatic rev matching, is only enabled in Sport and Comfort driving mode, but disabled in Sport+ mode."

Looks like automatic rev matching is catching on. What do you think about the feature?

I think it's good from a manufacturer's standpoint - many drivers out there don't bother to learn these techniques, and if it's something that will keep transmissions in better condition for more of the car's life, it helps the company's bottom line down the road.

As long as it's always defeatable, which in this case it seems to be, then I don't see anything wrong for the end user...

Would you just always drive in Sport mode?

If other people browse this like I do, I probably just saw the newer one first because I start at the top and work my way down in each subforum...

I use View unread posts. There's not enough traffic on this site that I need to break it up into sub-forums.

I used to use that but then it broke and started missing a few threads here and there. That's when I switched to unread posts, that one never misses (and never shows me anything I've already read).

Does it show the posts to you exactly where you left off? That's one downside of just using the subforums - I occasionally have to guess which page of the Never-ending-thread that I last saw.

Yes, but you can get that with using the subforums too. Click this icon to the left of the subject line: Image

That's exactly what I do. This site is pretty light on traffic, so that's what always works best for me.
