"You can thank the strong take-rate amongst Canadians for the Legacy's manual gearbox for this advantage over the American-spec car."

Should I work on becoming Canadian now so that I may get other cars they have that we don't? I'm used to the climate, but don't understand French.

You aren't going to be crossing into Quebec, you should be fine without the French. I AM actually curious as to how much more it would be to buy a Canadian one and then pay the taxes to import it...

No, you buy a US slushbox model and then drive over and swap with someone in Canada for their Amish model. Just change plates and drive home - nobody ever checks VINs.

I know that's a joke, but in RI you'd get caught when they plug the machine in for the 2-year inspection.

Praise me to dog that we don't have inspections, or curse be to dog (we do have a goodly amount a craptastic hoopties and jalopies cluttering up the road with their busted taillights, sagging suspension, non-existent turn signals, and missing body panels cluttering up the motorway)?

You don't need to know French but get used to this.
