You rock! This is exactly what I've been looking for! I am planning to cancel cable TV and using Netflix and Hulu for any shows that I watch. The only thing I was missing was a place to watch automotive racing.

I was thinking of doing the same. If you don't care to watch on a dedicated TV and therefore don't need a device like a Roku, you should at least look at the lists of channels available on such devices since most of them (all?) can be used on the computer too.

What's the point of Roku or similar when I can simply HDMI my laptop into my TV - as I've been doing.

It's a set-top-box that delivers the content through an interface that lets you operate it with a simple remote instead of a web browser and mouse, uses less power than having the computer on, aggregates lots of content sources into one place, doesn't keep your computer busy, etc. It's for a different market, the sort who just wants to plug a box into their TV and watch stuff without needing to spend time or maybe even have knowledge.

"Need" was the wrong word. My post was just suggesting you look at their list of channels for extra ideas of what to watch with your own rig.
